I think if you have to ask that question, you don't fundamentally grasp the problem at hand.

Imagine you're at a restaurant, and suddenly, the place is being robbed at gunpoint. Sitting at the table next to you is the local yokel that fancies himself Dirty Harry, and he whips out his gun and starts firing. Now you've got a gunfight with innocent people caught in the crossfire.

Sure, the restaurant needs to take precautions against gun crime, but the absolute last thing we should be thinking is that adding more guns to the situation is somehow a working solution.
No body is gonna rob the restaurant knowing that many patrons and probably the owner are armed. Robbers go for the weakest targets first and usually avoid targets that can protect themselves.

The best estimates are about 45% or 52 million of American households owning 260 million guns. So if 'most' gun owners are irresponsible, we should see tens of millions of deaths and injuries from firearms.

We see no such thing.

I bet you see far fewer gun injuries per head of population in the UK where private gun ownership is very rare.

I don't know about you guys, but I don't want to live in a world where machine guns that could take out 20 children in a matter of seconds are legal, and a plant that grows out of the ground isn't. (and no im not some pothead junkie, ive never done drugs in my life.)

There are hundreds of thousands of legally owned machine guns in the hands of individual US citizens. Despite this there has not been a homicide conviction in US courts of a US civilian for killing someone with one of those legally owned machine guns since 1934 when the National Firearms Act was passed.
