Abraham, Isaac, and a Dead Toddler
RE: Abraham, Isaac, and a Dead Toddler
(June 10, 2014 at 5:46 pm)Theonewhoanswersyourquestions Wrote: Ok, how about this, my youth pastor went to a small village in Cameroon for a missions trip, this village has neve heard English before, during one of the alter calls an African man started speaking I tounges, the language that was given for him to speak was English, he was speaking perfect English, which was a language that he had never even heard before, he was saying God ou are wonderful all loving and so much more, on perfect English, explain that?

Well, aside from the very nice refutation my dear Luckie gave you, I can go further; do you have any evidence that this happened, beyond a single anecdote? Did your pastor happen to get this on film? Of course not, right?

Anecdotes aren't evidence; it's more likely that he's lying for Jesus than it is that he's telling the truth.

Also, "how do you explain that?"? Really? That, my friend, is an argument from ignorance fallacy; even if we had no response it doesn't mean that you're right. Hell, even if the guy was speaking perfect english, and had never heard even a single syllable of it in the past, that doesn't mean that the cause of that is the christian god. Occam's Razor is our friend, here; it's more likely that the guy just had a complicated brain issue than that there was a magic god hijacking his brain for... what reason?

Argument. From. Ignorance.

I despise the unspoken assumption when Chrisitians roll out this excuse to be bothersome; that even if it were all true I would want to be in heaven. A lake of fire and gnashing of teeth seems pleasant compared to spending time with those that yearn for the end times. As far as the story goes the devil really hasn't made any claims. There aren't a list of bullshit rules and even if there were and I broke them what's the punishment? Banishment to heaven? Now that I think about it, this may be sufficient to ensure my obedience.

This makes me laugh when atheists say they would rather experience unabated torment in hell than unabated happiness in heaven. You're being dishonest here. And I do wish that everyone would end up in heaven, but I'm not assuming that everyone I meet would want to be there because they don't have a realistic perception of heaven and hell.

*effects by yours truly*

Where's that hall of irony? I got one for 'em.

Oh, and with a fully Christian understanding of what heaven and hell is (via Christian raising), and if the Bible in it's entirety represents who he is then I'd rather spend an eternity away from that capricious, mass murdering, egotistical motherfucker you have for a god.

Now, that being said, if I'm wrong and I die, and there is a god; he/she/it has some explaining to do about who they are and what the flying fuck happened to the world.

Yeah. I can picture you right now, standing in front of God tapping your foot, waiting for him to explain himself to you.

Believe what you want, with the shit that humanity has been through you wouldn't want an explanation? I for one think we all deserve one if there turns out to be a deity. Which, if you haven't guessed, I find ridiculously unlikely.

I already have the explanation. People have failed to love one another. Do you have an explanation?

You know what makes me laugh? People who accept unsubstantiated hearsay in a centuries old book as truth.

Speaking hypothetically, as if a deity were responsible for the universe, yeah that explains the human element, but not the hostile environments, the plethora of disease, or the terrible craftsmanship.

Speaking in terms of reality, yeah humans generally suck and life is a bitch sometimes. Simple as that.

People explain, in detail, that this heaven place does not sound like bliss of any type, let alone unabated...but because you disagree with them, you decide they must be liars - which doesn't even follow. But laying aside that asshattery, no one has "a realistic perception of heaven and hell". Explain to me how you would even acquire such knowledge? I'll wait. In the meantime, it's just a disagreement over flavors of ice cream. You like chocolate, I like vanilla. Now, granting you "unabated bliss" my current self couldn;t even watch my doped up raptured self without shame. I'm imagining it now, what a chump. Sucking down god-fume with a stupid grin on my face while shit literally caught fire here. wtf.............

If there were a heaven..and I took the deal...I wouldn't deserve to be there. It's grotesque, that's how I feel about it, can't change my opinion of it, wouldn't want to anyway. So do me a favor, don't wish too hard about my getting into heaven - I don't trust the genie.
