But, what about this little guy? Sheep or Goat?

Or are you agnostic to the existence of geeps?

I disagree. It is not typical. Not uncommon, but this personality type is not dependant on belief. A nice guy is a nice guy. Of course if I am wrong and you are right. These fundie Christians are right also.

But I am right.

Sorry. I guess I should have clarified that either/or thinking is typical of most of the christians I know or have heard of. Apparently, your mileage varies.

Oh, and I agree that "A nice guy is a nice guy" though I don't see what this comment has to do with this discussion.

Been there, done that ... the silence was resounding.

Actually you did not follow Luke 11 as outlined. If you had you would still be there doing that if by now you still had not heard anything.

That is the knock part of ask seek knock.

Read the story of the persistent neighbor again. He knocked till he got what he was looking for. You quit after the God of the universe did not meet your time frame.

Pretty typical Christian justification..

"Seek and ye shall find"

"I tried...didn't find God"

"You didn't do it right"

Because obviously the problem is with the seeker, and not the fact that we don't hear the same sky-vocies you do.

Noope.

Read what I said again. To ask seek knock as out lined in luke 11 is a three part exercise. God does not say ask and seek and I will come running. He takes the time to come up with a parable that includes knocking. Knocking in His parable is the key to the whole thing. I have no doubt that most of you who have ask and sought did so earnestly. Even so you all will be the first to admit that you did not stick around to complete the knocking portion of Christ's command.

If God tells you to do ABC and He will give you 123, is it reasonable to expect 123 if you only did AB?

Drich, are you saying you were there when Thumpy says he did just as you said?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

The story doesn't suggest it took that long to knock-up Mary. What gives?

Interesting true fact: over here in England, we used to have professional knocker-uppers - people whose job it was to go around every motning, knocking people up.

Again, thumpy says he did that meaning he is not doing it any more.

That means in the terms of the parable he asked and sought. The continuation till one gets what he is asking and seeking for is what the parable defines as knocking. If thumpy did not get what he asked and sought after then he by his own admission did not seek.

There is a simpler explanation that fits the known facts: there may be nothing to be found. You have to consider that possibility; anything else is cherrypicking.

Well, strictly speaking, what you say is only true for a person of faith and humility. For a know it all true believer cherry picking is like breathing air. For someone who has achieved a fully closed mind all things are possible, so long as they conform to what he already believes.
