Here is a fun game. Unless they are directly referring to 1940's Italy & Germany, any time a neo-con uses the word fascism I mentally replace it with the word success.

Perhaps we don't need 50 minimum wage burger flippers per square mile eh? Let em fire folks, that's just their business autocorrecting towards it's new market. Maybe that'll free up some labor for more productivity elsewhere, eh? If the margins on their model are to slim to allow a human being to live a life removed from poverty - I'd say it's a shitty business model. If they can't afford to hire enough people to even stay afloat, oh well, the service/product is clearly too expensive. We're subsidizing those hamburgers with our wage laws. Of course cutting them off of the bottle would be rough - hell, they seem to have forgotten how to even engage in business without a system in-pocket.
But, all of this hinges on my thinking that the market should work for us, not the other way round. If the market delivers me goods that can only be produced by breaking the backs of the less fortunate, It needs to be fixed, and I damn sure don't want to find myself on the shittyend of that market. I'm not going to be content with a system that does this just because I happen to be on the right side of the velvet rope (for now).

Some of the responses here are so misguided. The only reason why prices rise is not the soak up the cost of labor. But because they believe since everyone is making more they can charge more. Our economy is not run on supply and demand but on "what the market will allow" and since crowd psychology, and social propaganda. They can control the demand and easily keep people so dumb in some regards they will support anything as a belief.
Supply side economics has failed, as it should have never been even allowed. Capitalism is not being out done by taxes, but by technology. More and more, jobs are being replaced. Our current paradigm needs to change, we cannot believe that capitalism is this eternal system that has all the answers. There is barely a middle class, because I do not count people with credit being middle class. We have almost eliminated racism and sexism as prominent forces, why are we so attached to classism that money creates? Utopias are impossible, however a better society is not.

Hence the 3$ sneakers sell for 75$. If the labor was paid double the total production cost of the sneakers for each pair that would be a price hike of 3$, assuming the producer pushed that cost off to consumers. so, a 78$ pair of sneakers, with an employee who's quality of life has just doubled. I think that the 72$ left over after paying for the labor is enough to cover raw materials - promotion, and plenty more. 70-some odd dollars on a (lets say) 10$ investment is a damned fine rate of return.
LOL, Blade, I'd say we already -are- living in a utopia.....but it's not exactly a utopia built for human beings...hehehehe. I mean ffs, 700% and people are worried that business just won't make it, or will have a rough time of it- if we have to bring the laborer up out of bondage?

There should never be a need for a person to hold down four jobs to make ends meet. That we, as a society, not only allow it, but hold it up as a virtue, is a testament to how deep this country is in the pockets of the vastly over-privileged.
No shit, global Corporatism is creating more poverty. No you cannot get rid of big business. But it does need to switch from greed to making the focus on improving the human condition. It is possible to be profitable and moral at the same time.

But Corporatism is not capitalism...if we just unregulated business and get the gummint out it would all be unicorns and muffins....
I glad to see more people seeing the issue, I am just curious how many until people actually leave their jobs and refuse to work until things are changed. Usually things have to get way worse for it to get better.

Right, libertarians and republicans would have you think, in spite of 30 years of government siding with big business and tax breaks, that less of a leash would improve things. FUCK THAT, that is like after the pit bull bites you on it's long unfettered leash, suggesting that removing it all together magically things will get better.
That is like a fire department showing up to a house fire and instead of hooking up to water they hook up to the gas line. How fucking stupid do they think we are?
We tried trickle down and it didn't work.

It is just so many people believe it will still work. What has happened in the US is instead of politics being based on facts and evidence. They have took a page out of the bible and convinced people use the same religious zeal and logic to their political gods. I stated this and I love the reaction, you cannot be an objectivists/hard right conservative and serve Jesus.

There are lagit degrees that study religious history, those degrees are archaeology, anthropology and history. Those people do not sell a religion, merely report the events. A theologian is out to sell you a god as if they have real facts to back it up which they do not. The are nothing more than comic book club fans trying to sell you those comic books as fact.
