Do we need more Atheist books for kids?

RE: Do we need more Atheist books for kids?
I have to say: I thank the OP, spammer though he is, for starting an interesting conversation.

I don't have kids, and am not going to have them, but I do have what I consider a niece. Her mom is a cultural Catholic, and one of my best friends. I've talked to her about what I'm allowed to say to her eleven-year-old (with whom I spend a ton of one-on-one time) if she ever asks me about religion, and she's really cool about me just being open and honest with her. My niece is a really good critical thinker, so I'm not really worried about it if the conversation arises. I'm not going to bring up the subject with her, but if she asks me anything about gods or religions, I'll simply say that I think she's got a great brain on her and she should make her own decisions... or not, if a decision can't or shouldn't be made. If she digs more deeply, I'll just be honest with her about how I see things, but with the caveat that I'm not perfect, nor do I know everything. Atheism isn't a worldview; rather, it's a negative response to other world views. Not much to teach there, IMO.

How do you make a child's book about disbelief? I think there are a finite amount of story boards on this topic. The only one I can think of is:

A story about a boy rejecting supernatural belief and finding the importance of believing in himself.

Take my idea...but you'll owe me royalties. Wink

My local alternative book shop has a "non racist, non sexist books for children" section. (Funny they missed out non ageist).

Is this what you meant OP?
