Catholics Aren't Christians?

Catholics Aren't Christians?

This is a video debunking Gman's claim that Catholics aren't Christians. This video contains portions of Gman's actual video "truth over unity" so you've been warned. Devil

I am not going to watch the video but yes, some Protestants claim that Catholics aren't Christians. It is silly as Protestants can't agree with who is a 'real' Christian either.

They see themselves as direct successors of the first pope peter, who was appointed by Jesus Christ. Not calling them Christians is just silly.

I'm sure there are catholics who accuse protestants of not being christian as well. At least if you include both groups, that makes about 2.5 billion christians. Half that if you only include one group, since catholics make up about 1.3 billion.

Christianity seems to be a vague concept. There is no universal answer to the question.

Good video to watch, if you want to know how common the Jesus story really is.

It sounds to me like a game of one-upmanship. We're so special we're not even christians anymore.

It's stupid because they still worship the same book, even if they make rules about accessing it. Now if they wrote a better book, or an edited improved bible, then said they were no longer christians, I would respect that.

As long as something believes in christ and a skydaddy, they are christians.

It is the childish nature of religion that is one of the things that gets me the most. The reliance on an authority figure, and the thought that you cannot cope on your own. It is so stifling, and seems to me to be preserving the child like state of mind, along with the childish arguments used in its defence. It's all so sad.

Still, if Christianity were illegal, is their sufficient evidence to convict any of them ?

Kiddy diddling priests ain't christian, and I'd rule out all their protectors and enablers and donors.

That pretty much cleans the cabinet of all of 'em.

They misrepresent: Jesus to Peter: you are the pebble/ rock on which I will build my church... to mean that only Peter's descendants are the church.

The Catholic church became a political organisation in the 4th century ad joining forces with Rome in a move that would see them owning most of Europe.

No one is "born" a Christian. Infant baptism isn't a magical path to salvation. It's a promise by Christian parents to bring their child up responsibly.

Jesus made the condition that you had to receive his salvation to be his follower. Catholics don't usually have this condition. It's more a social thing like Islam and Judaism tend to be, with a small committed minority.

A lot of Protestants are particular about the salvation bit. I don't personally understand how the Catholics think it works otherwise. I've never seen it adequately explained. I wouldn't go as far as calling the Pope the anti Christ as some do.

" Christians " in the wider sense, that is, outside Protestantism, together with JWs, Mormans... no question.

Some Catholics do practice salvation I think so would be considered Christian by everyone.

Why wouldn't kiddie diddling priests be christian? The bible doesn't really admonish the rape of little boys. Sure having sex with a man is a sin, and if you rape a virgin girl you need to pay the father fifty silver, but it doesn't say anything about little boys.
