Well, I'd been wondering because SE Asian imports (refugee christianity) are of a remarkably different flavor. Really took root in C. Fl, couple decades back. Something that a person might notice, a christian person, for example, about those congregations is that their view of god and christ has been molded by a shared cultural experience trending a whole hell of alot closer to "God the Benevolent Despot" rather then the more european...and therefore to us more traditional, "Prince of Peace" model. It's not a rule, just a trend. That particular group of christians actually -was- hellishly persecuted, and while it may seem counterintuitive, a persons experience with earthly rulers might color the way they view celestial ones - even if they're being persecuted by the former while bowing down to the latter. That sort of stuff makes it's way to their kids, so on and so forth.
I doubt I need to mention much more to explain my interest......just wondering if it's another example of the effect of culture on faith, the way that different cultures or people with different cultural underpinnings view god, or what they see as an "acceptable" way to view god.

Just so we can sum up: Drich thinks slavery is good, he thinks cancer is a blessing, and he actively prays for atheists to get AIDS. He also impugns the bravery of the men and women who serve the Constitution which guarantees him the right to mouth such ignorance.
I think the only thing he's missed out on is arguing that preachers molesting children are actually good guys doing them a favor.

I used to have a weird fascination with blogs written by fundies. Many of the adult converts to more extremist, fundamentalist Christianity came from abusive households

I hope Drich remains on the Christian side because the aspects of his personality that make him come off as ajerk would probably carry over into atheism
Despite what he says, his being Christian is purely an accidental result of his contingent misadventure. If born or raised at different place, he would still be masturbating with a fire arm, but he would probably be holding a Koran and trying hard to swagger on behalf of the IS instead. But being a gullible, superstitious and narcissistic halfwit is graven into his genes, and he would be those things no matter where he is or what he think he is.

That makes perfect sense. My Dad became an abusive alcoholic shit after he and Mom divorced.
It's only recently that I realized that my intense emotions on hearing that I was forgiven by sky-daddy were related to my meatworld daddy being such an unforgiving fuck, and always blaming everything on me.
(He stopped drinking over 20 years ago, and we have since reconciled. Now he smokes "medical" marijuana instead, and laughs a lot).
