Anyone for "angel" therapy, healing crystals or Sasquatch Hunting? (What gun do you use to hunt Sasquatch? A freakin' 12-gauge, what do you think?)
Not much to see here. Thank you for reminding me how limited the minutes in my day actually are!

To murder someone was a capital offense. Show me where it states in the Bible where if you beat a "servant" and he died later, it was fine. I thought this was already spelled out for you.
Exodus 21:20-21: "20If a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod and he dies at his hand, he shall be punished. 21If, however, he survives a day or two, no vengeance shall be taken; for he is his property." I think you need to consider intent. There is a difference between murder and manslaughter.
Quote:Exodus 21
12 He that smiteth a man, so that he die, shall be surely put to death.
13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
Manslaughter still wasn't "okay", you couldn't be put to death according to the law, but the family of the dead person had a right to kill you, unless you made it to a city of refuge. Obviously if you were a servant, you probably didn't have family.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cities_of_Refuge
Quote:The Cities of Refuge were towns in the Kingdom of Israel and Kingdom of Judah in which the perpetrators of manslaughter could claim the right of asylum; outside of these cities, blood vengeance against such perpetrators was allowed by law.[1] The Torah names just six cities as being cities of refuge: Golan, Ramoth, and Bosor, on the east of the Jordan River, and Kedesh, Shechem, and Hebron on the western side

Exodus 21:26-27
"26If a man strikes the eye of his male or female slave, and destroys it, he shall let him go free on account of his eye. 27And if he knocks out a tooth of his male or female slave, he shall let him go free on account of his tooth."
So, please, stop taking verses out of context: Say if I paid you a sum of money to be my servant and the next week I knocked out your tooth. Would it be fair for me to lose my money AND tooth?

(March 6, 2015 at 2:50 pm)Nestor Wrote: I also don't think that is slavery or the practice outlined in the Old Testament for non-Hebrew slaves, who themselves and their families, including their children, became the permanent possession of the Israelites:
Leviticus 25:44-46
"44As for your male and female slaves whom you may have—you may acquire male and female slaves from the pagan nations that are around you. 45Then, too, it is out of the sons of the sojourners who live as aliens among you that you may gain acquisition, and out of their families who are with you, whom they will have produced in your land; they also may become your possession. 46You may even bequeath them to your sons after you, to receive as a possession; you can use them as permanent slaves. But in respect to your countrymen, the sons of Israel, you shall not rule with severity over one another." (emphasis mine) There is only one instance that a servant became a servant permanently, By choice.
Quote:Deuteronomy 15
16 And it shall be, if he say unto thee, I will not go away from thee; because he loveth thee and thine house, because he is well with thee;
17 Then thou shalt take an aul, and thrust it through his ear unto the door, and he shall be thy servant for ever. And also unto thy maidservant thou shalt do likewise.

I gave you the verses that spell out the difference between non-Hebrews and Hebrews and given that they're in the same chapter, you should probably have noticed them. Just because you decided not to deal with the arguments in the link I posted, which come from "a Scholar-in-Residence at the C.S. Lewis Institute," (doesn't exactly sound like the author's bias would be in my favor) and instead opted to commit the fallacy of ad hominem circumstantial and repeat yourself, doesn't actually translate into you having refuted the arguments set forth. Thus, I take it as a concession on your part that they still stand. As if no scholar was ever wrong.
All I asked for was Bible verses to back up what you are saying, but I'll do it for you.
Here is the difference between Hebrews and foreign servants.
Quote:Exodus 21
12 And if thy brother, an Hebrew man, or an Hebrew woman, be sold unto thee, and serve thee six years; then in the seventh year thou shalt let him go free from thee.
No mention of Jubilee
Hebrew servants were allowed to go free after seven years, all servants were allowed to go free on Jubilee.. got it?
