Is the bible all perfect?

RE: Is the bible all perfect?
What makes you think that everything in the bible is true, Miles? Because I can tell you several things that aren't.

Why? Because God in the bible never claimed the bible is without error.

The book is not perfect, the fictional character states it is not a perfect book, but we are to suspend our logical inclinations to accept it as truth nonetheless.

Makes no sense.

Seems to me that an omnipotent being could have found a better way to convey his mmessage.

How do you know you won't be chosen in the future? You aren't dead yet. Besides, Paul WAS evil, yet he was chosen. He referred to himself as the "chief of sinners," so you being good or evil has absolutely nothing to do with it (and no one is good but God).

You will come to believe at some point, either in this life or the next. What is important isn't whether or not you believe, but recognizing your sins and repenting. Of course, one cannot even repent unless it is granted him/her by God, but if you have the desire to, it is because God has led you to feel that way, because God is sovereign in every aspect of your life, whether you believe in Him or not.

OK, well I checked the 10 commandements, and I've never done anything on that list. So am I ok?

In fact, Islam seems quite big now, and they also tell me to have faith. Should I join them?

I never said that everything in the Bible is true. It has quite obviously been corrupted by men in several places, but everything that needs to be there is there.

Why would God allow it to be corrupted? For one, so people who idolize the Bible can be put in their place. Two, so people can point to the inconsistencies as proof that it is all false.

People might say, "God wouldn't lie." To that I say true, but God doesn't have to; Satan does it for Him. Why else would He create Satan, who deceives the whole world?

God does lie, in his very first book. Written by him. Or did the devil write that bit?

If it's not all true, how can you tell which bits are true and which aren't? Who gets to say that? Me?

There's probably a version that's colour coded.

You claim you've not broken any commandments, but that is not true. I can easily point out one, which is something of which all men are guilty at some point or other: Thou shalt not commit adultery.

Jesus said that even looking at a married woman with lust is adultery. Have you ever done this?

How about "Thou shalt have no other gods before me"? Everyone has something they value more than God. Drugs, alcohol, video games, movies, anything that takes priority before your interest and dedication to God breaks this commandment; it does not require you literally worship other gods.

Which bit is that? If you want me to refute an argument, perhaps you should present one in the first place.

One can tell which bits are true and which aren't either by logic or by the Spirit.
