Is the bible all perfect?
#41
RE: Is the bible all perfect?
Wait, the commandments don't mean what they say? They mean other stuff?

Well God should have written them better.

Adultery isn't in the 10 commandments, sorry. Whoops... Bad bible class again! :p Cocky git I am sorry about that.

Wait, logic! I have to use logic in the bible? Well that's easy. It's all shit. Done! I'm really good at logic, see.

God says if Adam and Eve eat of the fruit of the forbidden tree, they will die that day. They eat it, they don't die that day.

That bit's illogical though, so it's probably corrupted.

It seems like every Christian has a different theology.

Faith is not about being open minded for you are accepting something as factual without the proper analysis to make an informed, unbiased decision. Doubt leads one to the truth, but suspension of the obvious truth because one prefers the comfort of the lie is what makes for blind faith.

You speak of the comfort of faith as though it is always comforting, but it is only comforting for those who are hearing what they want to hear.

The gospel of Christ calls for everyone to take up the cross, which is necessarily painful. You and everyone else will take up the cross either in this life or the next, and it will not be pleasant.

Luke 9:23-24
And He was saying to them all, "If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. 24"For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it...'"

Hey now, why aren't you in the wrestling thread? Non denominational needs representing! At the moment Buddha is winning, and no christians are challenging.

Hmm, that bits not logical though. It's wrong.

This is why you need eyes to see and ears to hear, so that you know what is intended to be metaphorical and what isn't, or what is referring to the physical as opposed to spiritual. The death Adam and Eve experienced was clearly spiritual.

Corinthians 15:22
"For as in Adam all die, so in Christ are all made alive."

Obviously, all men are not currently dead, nor are all alive in Christ. You could also read the book of Romans, which goes quite in depth about spiritual death by sin.

Ah ok, the bible doesn't mean what it says.

That's ok then, I'll just make up what it says too Smile Except the illogical bits. I'll ignore those bits. Wait... That's most of it.

Not much left. Some stuff about building tents? Do I need to know this bit?

I'm just playing with you man Smile

It seems that way because the vast majority of Christianity is deceived. The only doctrine that is correct is that doctrine which never contradicts itself.

Ah! Ok.

Which one is that then? The bit about tents?

See, other christians would tell me you're wrong and you're probably going to hell too. What would you say to them?

You are correct in that the Bible doesn't always mean what it seems to be saying. As I mentioned, you need eyes to see and ears to hear. The only way to know you have such is if you hear the Truth when it is presented to you (which I am doing now).

And I am not easily offended, so there is no need to keep apologizing to me, though I do appreciate the sentiment.

All you need is eyes and ears to determine which parts are metaphor, its so simple. Why are you being so difficult?
