So you when to hell now what.

You must admit that some knowledge in the hands of man is very damning. The ability to split an atom for example. If we were pure all knowledge would be beneficial to all. We are all but pure. The Lord is all knowing.

Is there an ongoing contest for the dumbest post, I don't know about? If so - this is a very strong contender...

Yeah, buddy - it would have been terrible, for example, if your "all knowing lord" told people about germs and viruses being the cause of diseases. Instead - we had to wait until 19th century before anyone suggested washing hands after having contact with the sick and the dead was a good idea.

Your lord can go f*** himself...

I'm just glad I'll never have to find out since it doesn't exist.  Tongue

Not an actual contest, but there is the 'Wall of Shame' where really stupid posts are quoted for laughs on down the line and for those that might have missed it dodging a thread.

Exactly, what purpose would it serve as a metaphor?

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.

“Continued Creation” or ‘Continuing Creation’ are not terms that’s I’ve used for the creation record which is:
Frame of reference - above the earth
1. Material universe creation (’In the beginning…’ via the BBY which includes CMB, space and time dimensions, law of physics. So CMB persist subject to the First law of thermodynamics.

Frame of reference - on the earth’s surface
2. Non-material creation and making earth habitable described as 6 distinct non-contiguous ‘long but finite periods of time’*. During the 7’th ‘Day’ (the last ‘Day’ for this universe) which we’re currently in, God has ceased creation.

Genesis Ch.1 is a summary of creation over 13 billion years** . During most of this time, there wasn’t any creation activity…the last creation activity was ‘Man’ some 75TYA. So for instance, Man, CMB continue to exist.

*The Hebrew ‘Yom’ (translated to English word ’Day’) has 4 literal meanings depending upon context and other criteria. The 24 hour definition is never used in reference to creation.
**Other references add details to the summary; i.e., Chapter2, Books: Psalms, Job, etc..
Atheist Credo: A universe by chance that also just happened to admit the observer by chance.

Yeah, I guess the creation account must be metaphorical. I mean:

Chapter 1

1 OK, write this down. Are you listening? No don't write that bit down!

2 I am God and I made the world. Let me explain how. I created a singularity which broke the laws of physics which I hadn't invented yet (coolness) and then sat back and watched.

3 For a long time.

4 Very long time. Friends reruns already getting annoying.

5 Several billion years later, a load of crud finally broke off in just the right way so that some scummy little thing was somehow able to develop pre-RNA! What? RNA. Ribonucleic ac... What?

6 What do you mean "I don't know what acid is." You know when you measure the pH of a... Huh? pH? You take the negative of the logarithm of... WHAT? How stupid are you people? I knew I should have just made you properly instead of going with the multi billion year crud explosion plan.

7 Forget all that then. *Sigh*. Hey, don't write down when I sigh! Or when I'm telling you not to write stuff!

8 So I did some magic and there was the world and you stupid fuckers on it, ready to go. OK? Stop writing now. I said stop writing.

If they were inspired by god and yet left to make "best guesses" based on their backwards understanding of the time, then where exactly can we spot the inspiration? The Biblical origin story isn't the only one, and we have a few muslims who post here about how their holy book tells the real story... but only if you apply the same reasoning as you do above, and interpret their vague and ambiguous texts in a self-serving manner.

This constant flip-flopping between "inspired" and "fallible" men is an attempt to have your interpretational cake and eat it, too. Can you twist a few verses into something almost meaningful? Proof of divine inspiration! Does it conflict with these other verses, which makes the whole thing seem nonsensical? Proof of the fallibility of men! At some point all of this misdirection must seem ridiculous even to those who profess to believe it.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
