Calling it into question...
RE: Calling it into question...
Antisocial doesn't mean what you think it means, it doesn't mean introverted or a loner. Antisocial behavior means criminal, violent or otherwise harmful towards others.

You do realize that if your intent here is to preach to us or to try and convert us to your god, it won't work, right?

Why else would a theist come on this forum? Even if the goal is to argue or discuss, the "logical" conclusion of their line of reasoning is "and therefore you should believe in my sky-master punisher-god." While many of them flounder around with apologetics in an attempt to make us "think," it would not surprise me one lick if a poll of the religious members of this forum revealed that some majority of them felt compelled by god to sit here and do this every day, despite the obvious fruitlessness of such an effort, even though the bible says to shake the dirt off your shoes and move on if people don't accept your preaching the first time.
Verbatim from the mouth of Jesus (retranslated from a retranslation of a copy of a copy):

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you too will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. How can you see your brother's head up his ass when your own vision is darkened by your head being even further up your ass? How can you say to your brother, 'Get your head out of your ass,' when all the time your head is up your own ass? You hypocrite! First take your head out of your own ass, and then you will see clearly who has his head up his ass and who doesn't." Matthew 7:1-5 (also Luke 6: 41-42)

I do seriously wonder what certain theists are doing here. I have no problem with them being here, I just don't get what's in it for them. They don't tend to interact in any topic that isn't heavily religion based, and when they go into another topic they make it about religion. They seem to have the attitude that one more bit of preaching is suddenly going to do the trick.

What are they getting out of it?

A nigh-unbeatable challenge!
Some people get high on that.

Yeah, I guess I could see that. The thing is, with a really hard challenge, the idea is to vary your tactics and come up with ingenious ideas as to how you could overcome the odds. Instead what we get is exactly the same "method" every day. That's more like banging your head against a titanium wall until you or the wall get bored.

When you are up against a brain-teaser, you try and try until you give up... then you let one of your friends play with it... he'll repeat pretty much the same trials you did... as will everyone.

You keep seeing the same tactic, because it comes from different people trying to sort it out. Hint: they can't sort this out, because the brain being teased is ours, but we let them think it's the other way around! Tongue

It's got to the point where you could probably write an anti-apologetics program. It could identify which particular argument is being used out of the dozen or so that rotate in and out of fashion and point out what garbage it is.

Then no one would need atheists anymore...

Don't underestimate the therapeutic value which comes from theists.

Some come here to sway our way of thinking but all it does is strengthen and reassure our position.
It's similar to people becoming atheist "because" of the bible, these guys are doing the same, but as unofficial spokespeople for the bible.

And then there's the comedy aspect of it all. That's also good for your health.
No God, No fear.
Know God, Know fear.
