And this is why we'ere doomed. The latest trend on YouTube is more important than free elections and class warfare.
Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell

Bread and circuses. Not much has changed, except perhaps the added wrinkle that we modern plebs have been conned into thinking that our bread and circuses are really free choices, lifestyles, and self-expression rather than tools designed to keep us distracted and docile.

My faith in humanity is restored when I reflect on the French Revolution.  Humans are capable of overthrowing those who rule over them and oppress them.  Unfortunately, things have to get very bad before such action takes place to overthrow the oppressors.  And the process itself tends to be unpleasant as well.  But it does give one hope for the future.

Human labor is becoming irrelevant to manufacturing in First World countries. Consequently the unemployment rate will continue to explode around the globe. Human labor is of value only in poor Third World countries. The golden age is over for the middle class. It will also soon be over for the wealthy class because the masses will not have money to buy goods and services. It's already happening in countries such as Venezuela.

Agree 110%

Melbourne just got voted the "world's most liveable city".
Fucked if I know how, this place is becoming toxic!

Australia, the size of the US but with only 23 million people and you can't buy a shitty suburban block of land for under $200,000 anywhere!
If this is the world's most liveable city, then we're all fucked!

Hear, hear!

A Christian told me: if you were saved you cant lose your salvation. you're sealed with the Holy Ghost

I replied: Can I refuse? Because I find the entire concept of vicarious blood sacrifice atonement to be morally abhorrent, the concept of holding flawed creatures permanently accountable for social misbehaviors and thought crimes to be morally abhorrent, and the concept of calling something "free" when it comes with the strings of subjugation and obedience perhaps the most morally abhorrent of all... and that's without even going into the history of justifying genocide, slavery, rape, misogyny, religious intolerance, and suppression of free speech which has been attributed by your own scriptures to your deity. I want a refund. I would burn happily rather than serve the monster you profess to love.
