How close have you come to committing murder?

How close have you come to committing murder?
This is a question of personal interest following the discussion in the child killing thread.

How would you rate yourself on this scale? The poll is anonymous so it's up to you whether you elaborate in the thread.

By murder, I mean a planned act of killing someone, not a heat of the moment event.

I am in the first category.

RE: How close have you come to committing murder?
Do you mean actual 'murder' or just killing someone? Murder is universally defined as 'the unjustified killing of a human being.' Planning a killing isn't morally the same as planning a murder.

How do you premeditate to kill someone without murdering them?

RE: How close have you come to committing murder?
Let's say for the purposes of this thread that murder is planning to kill someone and then executing that plan. But not battle situations where killing is going on all over the place, or having to escape where it's your only option or something.

So basically, when you would have other realistic options.

Justification is rather a subjective term, so you can forget about it for this poll.

RE: How close have you come to committing murder?
As an unrelated sidenote and while it's fresh in my memory, on the news here a few days ago, a reckless young man stole a car and accidentally killed a passer-by.
They caught him and he will be sentenced. In the mean time, his parents spoke out about their killed son and said:

QUOTE:
He is at peace and with the lord now.
We are blessed that he was killed instantly and didn't suffer.
No God, No fear.

Option 3 ... sort of. I flirted with the thought of murdering my father a few years back, but the ideation didn't last long.

Thanks for the votes so far Smile

Just to be clear, I'm not interested in judging anyone, just in how people evaluate themselves.

I wonder if someone could be excused for murdering a Christian threatening them with eternal hell!
Wouldn't it be self defence or something? I can see an atheist who wasn't in his right mind taking this very serious threat personally and taking action accordingly.

I completely have it in me... whether you consider me a 'murderer' (in the sense of having killed somebody) or not... really depends on whether you believe that me killing hallucinated persons constitutes murder...

And whether you believe I can always tell the difference... and whether you believe that my memory of whether they were real or not can be trusted Thinking Wink Tongue

Many a 'fantasy', and many more a 'spiral', Valuable Rob Heart Whether those can constitute 'plans', and whether the 'execution of them' is dependent upon a person necessarily being in their right mind... I've very really killed people quite dead who were really real to me, and, hopefully, nobody else... sometimes with forethought!! Skunk

Violence in generally isn't really my style these days, though... and I am more inclined to close in on myself than I am to act. That isn't to say I wouldn't kill someone real to yall... but I really don't feel any need to justify my willingness to murder in the form of, say: a very, very long list... of scenarios where I'd premeditate murder prior to execution.

... A very, very long, and oddly specific, list~ Tiger

I've straight up murdered way more people in my head than in reality, though the actual number of my virtual victims can be counted on the fingers of Abu Hamza's bad hand - I just murder them in ever more creative ways. Could I stand there and actually snuff out the life of another, if I felt I could justify it? I really don't know.

I've killed far more kittens than people.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'
