EDIT: Hes got a podcast now? I feel old.
Read his political essays on Iraq and torture from the first decade of this century. Watch the interview he gave Cenk Uigur. The whole uncut 3 hours, so there's no manipulating. I did, and I don't respect Harris at all for the above.
Harris constantly points out how violent the muslim book is and denies that the OT contains at least as violent passages. That's either uninformed or totally dishonest. Either way, Harris is a propagandist, who's rather leaninng to the right on most issues.
The only instance where I considered what Harris had to say, were his comments in "The god who wasn't there".

So you're one of those...
I recommend you read the entries on his blog relating to the Cenk Uygur debacle because you are clearly misinformed about his actual views. Then read his work on torture again - I've got a feeling you didn't quite understand that either.
What exactly do you mean when you say he leans on the right on most issues and he's a propagandist? Explain yourself.

No, I don't have to explain myself to anyone, least of all you. And if he failed to bring his actual view across in the 3 hours talking to Uigur, it's him rowing back. He had ample opportunity to say what he meant.
If one of those means, I'm not bowing my head before the great Sam Harris, you're perfectly right.

He did say what he meant. You must be biased against him for some reason - actually it's pretty obvious that you are. There's no proving you wrong here since you act so childish. Keep your backwards ideas, it's hilarious and pathetic. I didn't actually think there were people like you out there, I thought it was just these couple of retarded public figures... Well now I know better and I weep.

Have you even watched the interview? The whole 3 hours?
You know what, keep kissing poster boy's ass. I for one don't need neither Harris nor Dawkins, nor Hitchens for being an atheist. If you need role models to form an opinion, fine by me. It only says a lot about you.

Sorry, found it boring.

I can see you're not doing this on purpose. It's just your level of intelligence. So here, I'll take your hand and walk you through this.
Sam Harris is an intellectual. You do need other people to form ideas. You couldn't think by yourself - there wouldn't be much to think about, for one.
( You know, I was going to really delve into the surreal stupidity being displayed here on your part, but I thought the better of it. Let me hear more from you first and then maybe I'll try and show you why you're wrong).
Yes, I did watch that horrible thing. Twice.
Now please watch this.

I'm ready to idiot-proof any other stuff you have trouble with grasping the meaning of. Just let me know.

See, this is kind of annoying. Nobody really cares that you found it boring. But, hey, please let us know when we obviously don't care. That's just great. Keep those useless statements coming. Cancer isn't going to cure itself, you know.

Sam Harris is used to being misrepresented. As for those who suggest he is disingenuous or a propagandist, you couldn't be further from the truth. There's a reason why he's written a book about the perils of dishonesty.
Sam Harris is so brutually honest it pisses people off. Look at how he handles the issue of Free Will and doesn't use compatabilist redefinitional meaningless bullshit that dodges the issue.
Sam Harris Wrote:Among the many paradoxes of human life, this is perhaps the most peculiar and consequential: We often behave in ways that are guaranteed to make us unhappy. Many of us spend our lives marching with open eyes toward remorse, regret, guilt, and disappointment. And nowhere do our injuries seem more casually self-inflicted, or the suffering we create more disproportionate to the needs of the moment, than in the lies we tell to other human beings. Lying is the royal road to chaos.
SH Wrote:To lie is to intentionally mislead others when they expect honest communication.
SH Wrote:Honesty is a gift we can give to others. It is also a source of power and an engine of simplicity. Knowing that we will attempt to tell the truth, whatever the circumstances, leaves us with little to prepare for. We can simply be ourselves.
He's not just honest he's the most honest public intellectual I know. Probably even more so than Dawkins I would argue, as there are certain issues, such as Free Will, which Dawkers seems to not want to think about too much.
