Only in very extreme cases. And even then, the death would be a quick bullet to the dead. No electric chair. No shooting them up with stuff that may or may not kill them quickly and painlessly.

Strongly opposed.
If The Flintstones have taught us anything, it's that pelicans can be used to mix cement.

"The new evangelization calls for followers of Christ who are unconditionally pro-life: who will proclaim, celebrate and serve the Gospel of life in every situation. A sign of hope is the increasing recognition that the dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil. . . . I renew the appeal I made . . . for a consensus to end the death penalty, which is both cruel and unnecessary."

"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Personally, I don't like the death penalty. I think the guilty person should be made to rot in prison for the rest of their natural born life without the possibility of parole just so they can wake up every day behind bars, serving as a reminder of what they did.

It should be reserved for corporate criminals who steal billions.
For them I'd go with crucifixion.

We love to kill people. Reading the comments on any news story makes that abundantly clear.

!00% against it unless a convicted murder or rapist requests it... for SO many reasons, not the least of which that it's estimated that 4% of death row inmates have been wrongfully convicted.

John Waters has essentially suggested the problem with it is marketing. It should be viewed as the equivalent of an Oscar or Emmy award, just being for crime instead.
Maybe we need the equivalent of an academy of sorts, staffed with senior criminals, who can recognize true genius and let them issue their awards annually ??
The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.
