The role of Islam in the current conflicts

There is no verses in the Quran that allows Muslims to take slaves.
Rather, ISIS is only following the Sunni understanding of slavery.

I can't decide my decision about the second point (social pressure), but it is no secret that I vividly agree with you on this one. Slavery was never disclosed as a topic in Muslim societies until the world stopped slavery.

The fault is a mixture between the two.  I completed the missing topic :

God of Mr. Hanky

And you think a world without religion is safer ? hence : the peace today is achieved by nothing but the power of the atom Smile

You blame religion; I blame humans. A sample of killers & criminals taken worldwide, would prove to you that no matter what the religion is, what the color is, violence will be present. Concluding it in religion doesn't solve anything, really.

MrNoMorePropaganda

It's very ironic, for people to forget who gave Jihadists all the hype & weaponry in the first place.

BTW, many in the Middle East are just like the PKK; many are atheists especially the nationalistic fellas, though when wars crack it's easy for an observer to judge everybody as Muslim. Many don't believe in the faith anymore.

Judaism & Christianity are also aliens to the region :

Every place you see on earth  was invaded by somebody before.

That's being very nitpicky, according to wikipedia the Qu'ran mentions slavery 29 times, mostly rules about the legal status of slaves. Also the little fact that Muhammad himself took slaves during his conquests. So either he was morally wrong to do so, or taking slaves during conquests is permitted in Islam.

Mentions it since it was a fact.
Yet again, how many of these verses contained the word "molk yameen" ? that is; Molk Yameen is something different than a slave.

Quoting wikipedia :

Quote:The Quran, Surah 90:13 cleary stated , the act of freeing of a slave [27] will make those people who do such deed to be categorized as the Companions of the Right,[28] a term for the blessed people in hereafter.[29]

Reward & blessings, are always given after doing something good. If taking slaves was ok, then how is freeing appreciated that much ?

All evidence leads me to see slavery as a despised thing in the Quran.

I love the Arabs. I love their food (from what little I've tasted). I love their rich history. Believe me, I am very angry at the state of affairs. And it's very annoying seeing people demonize the boat people coming across the sea. I'm sure the Saudi establishment don't believe much of the garbage they tell people to believe. Life is easy when you're a billionaire who inherited their wealth.

Then why did Muhammad take slaves?

Shawerma ftw Cool .

An institution that sparked this disaster, should indeed take responsibility for what might come out of its retarded plans, actions and moves. In other words, I wish if the Arabs along with Turkey & Iran had offered more aid to the immigrants; the masses who wanna escape to the west though, are an example of how terrible the situation in this region is.

As for the regimes and the religious propaganda, they don't believe it; it's no more than a very strong drug, that they keep feeding the masses with.

Who needs crystal meth ?? have yourself a "sunnaweed" or "shiawen"and enjoy the slaughter :p

CapnAwesome

He took "molk yameen"; not slaves.
The 'molk al yameen' have different rules, though Muslim sources always refer to "slavery" & "molk al yameen" as the same thing.

Reading how he treated them, would directly indicate the difference between slavery, and molk al yameen.

I know Shawerma as Donner meat since that's what the people who cook kebabs for me call it. I think they might be Sufi because I'm pretty sure people as nice as them wouldn't attend the Salafi Mosque near me, let's be honest (where I live there are two Mosques). Modern Salafis have Fascist tendencies.

Saudi offered to build Mosques for the refugees in Europe which I find hilarious. Fortunately Germany said "NO WAY!" and I know that Austria had laws banning foreign funding of places of worship. These people are a joke, a very dangerous joke. If there was a Saudi embassy near me I'd give them a Nazi flag or two because the love genocide too, especially of Shia and Kurds. I don't want to stoop to their level and silence opinions I disagree with.

Oranges are not tangerines, and the difference is important - particularly if you sell or breed them.
Mr. Hanky loves you!

People still keep slaves today because it's Halal to do so, yes? You want to emulate the final messenger and keep to the Sunnah so therefore keeping slaves is fine. I know Sunnis don't represent you of course, but where does the Quran tell you not to keep slaves? The Quran has verses which assume that slavery is widespread and Muhammad didn't come along a free every single slave.
