Well how is the leadership of either party composed?  Who else would want the job but for people who think they know better than others?  It isn't a neutral structure and I'm not sure how or why you'd go about making it so.

Additionally, the Jewish/atheist thing is really pissing me off.  How high a fucking price am I looking at just to have Hillary getting some SCOTUS picks ??

Not remotely as high a price your ideological enemies on the other side are willing to pay, in the form of trump, to deny SCUTUS picks to Hillary.

In what to the other side is not only a fight to the last bullet, but a fight that will continue past the last bullet with teeth and fingernails, you are bitching about the shoulder stock of your gun not being too comfortable.

So Keep your eyes on the ball and quit whining.

A man of Bernie's age doesn't need to go back to the senate anymore. He could very well live out his remaining years in relative prosperity.

If Ted Cruz had been the republican nominee, I think a 3rd party candidate would have had a real chance.  But Trump catches a lot of the wackier people who don't fit neatly into party politics.

The real complication is getting Black and Hispanic voters out of lockstep with the DNC.

But this election cycle, who knows what's going to happen.  We've got 2 candidates who are liked by 25% of the country respectively.  That leaves 50% up for grabs.  Gary Johnson do okay, until he gets into a debate, and he makes an ass of himself like he did in 2012.  I don't know much about Jill Stein.  But if Sanders threw a curveball and endorsed her, which he won't, she'd jump to 20% immediately, and things could be interesting.

I don't see Sanders retiring any time soon, and I don't see him seeing any merit in living out his remaining years in "relative prosperity". He'll keep campaigning until he can't physically do it anymore.

I understand that. It was meant to be in response to the insinuation of him sucking up to keep his seat. He could just as well campaign from the outside. Maybe even more effectively so.

Bold mine

Me either. Maybe there should not be a party system at all. The party system seems exclusionary (got to be a member to stand a chance), limits freedom of thought (support the platform or get out), and ultimately subject to corruption.

Understand that I'm not a big political thinker. Just know what I do and don't like.

Leave the corruption to the sheep who vote in crooked politicians.

Yeah, like I said, I'm unsure how doing nothing will change anything. I've got a son, I'm rather interested in seeing that he inherits a nation worth having, and I don't think surrendering to the status quo is a viable option.

Asking for an untarnished politician is unrealistic. You're a Christian who believes all men are flawed, yet you insist on "untarnished" politicians? Of course we don't want to vote in corrupt politicians ... but I don't think all are corrupt.

I'd love to pick up a bucket of water....trouble is, there's a jarring lack of buckets to be found, and the water doesn't seem to be flowing.

(for context..I think that Trump is a joke who won't be able to deliver on any of the whistles he;s blowing, and I suspect that clinton is actually capable of doing what -she- wants to get done)
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

A new CNN poll has Trump leading Clinton nationally.

Quote:Donald Trump comes out of his convention ahead of Hillary Clinton in the race for the White House, topping her 44% to 39% in a four-way matchup including Gary Johnson (9%) and Jill Stein (3%) and by three points in a two-way head-to-head, 48% to 45%. That latter finding represents a 6-point convention bounce for Trump, which are traditionally measured in two-way matchups.

http://www.cnn.com/2016/07/25/politics/d...index.html

This just shows how inept and unlikable Hillary Clinton is. She struggles against someone that could't beat a pile of dog shit in an election.

As much as it shows how unlikable Clinton is, national polls are still a terrible indicator of how the election will turn out. FiveThirtyEight still put her chances at 58.2%

http://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/2016...cast/#plus

That number will probably jump later this week when she is official confirmed as the nominee. It will then likely fall as a result of the leaked emails. documents, etc. I suspect it may jump back up when the debates start; somehow I can't see Trump holding his own against Clinton in a debate.
