No, he's not. He's irrelevant to life right now, and I'm not interested in being blackmailed into dancing like a bitch for him. I'll do what I think is right, not what a load of barbarians 1500 years ago thought was right. If he doesn't like it he can shove it up his arse.

Actually, when I look around at what religion and god belief has done...if there is a god who is responsible...he/she/it/them are the ones who should be judged. I am not a person of faith at all, but certainly don't fear being judged by a god. If the best it can do is threaten me with eternal punishment simply because I didn't worship it in the approved manor, then it isn't a god worth bothering with. Perhaps the only thing more distasteful than worshiping, is allowing one's self to be worshiped. The god of Abraham (Jewish / Christian / Muslim one) is defected on every level without a single redeeming characteristic.

But if it is the best you can do to make yourself feel special or important, then you should probably cling to it. Just try not to hurt anyone else while you do so.

I'd say the need has probably been implanted through indoctrination into fantasy rather than an education grounded in reality. So there is something wrong in a sense, but in the same way there's something wrong with a victim. They've been damaged.
