Listening is one thing... actually hearing what someone says, is another.

My purpose in this thread isn't to spark any debates over feminism and/or how women in the US (or, elsewhere) perceive themselves, real or imagined.  Rather, it's about Trump's path to the White House, if there is one.

Show me one thread that didn't get momentarily derailed because of an interesting post that was responded to. Please lighten up already.

I value your input, really, I do, and I value these types of conversations more than watching the talking heads on CNN, MSNBC and (god forbid -- glad that there isn't one), Fox News!

So, in you opinion, how does Trump pull this one off?

He doesnt. He and his camp cannot possibly pull off the enormous amount of damage control it would take to turn this around for himself.

He's just too far gone and a strong sign of that is some of his strongest supporters backing away. Drumpf can't keep his own mouth shut long enough for his camp to rectify one situation before he's gotten himself into another.

Well stated.  And, so, the Trump camp isn't going to get a smoking gun on Hillary; she's been vetted far, far too much for one of those to be lying in the rough.

But, no hope of a "Hail Mary" for the Donald?  By the way, I am bringing-up the "Green Hell" card, because, living here in Iowa, I saw, firsthand, that tactic backfire on the Democrats right here at home.  They pelted the airwaves with ad after ad about Ernst being a right-wing climate denialist (which, is true), but that message propelled her into office in a state which does not poll vary well.  (Lots of prominent pollsters, including, the Des Moines Register have gotten things very wrong.)  Wondering, out loud, if there isn't some self-destruct button that the Democrats could/will be inadvertently pushing that will catapult Trump into the White House?

By the way, I am 48 going on 49; feel very privileged to be alive at a time in World History when the United States will have its first woman President!

Do you have any evidence for that, or are you just making stuff up and exaggerating in order to prop up your political and/or ideological views? What felonies have Clintons committed? Or Trump for that matter - not counting the ongoing investigations and lawsuits, for which we still don't know the outcomes?

Hyperboles are fun, when you just want to vent your political frustration, but unless you have some facts to point to - your rant will be disregarded by most.

Christopher Hitchens, whom I greatly admire, wrote a book on them, "No one left to lie to".  Where's there is smoke, there is fire.  Bill Clinton, the President, was found by a federal judge to have lied under oath, which is a felony.

Christopher Hitchens also supported the war in Iraq. I love the Hitch, but...damn. He was brilliantly wrong about some pretty obvious things, geopolitically.

Or to keep it to your Rand topic, this train's about to become the Taggart Transcontinetal death train, where children are killed off by the author simply because their mother is soooooo evillllll that she considers the welfare of her children more important than whether billionaires are allowed to cut as many corners as they want when making stuff. Gotta purge the world of that looter mentality and the offspring of the looters somehow.

I could care less if the Clintons are liars; no one is perfect.  Compared to most politicians, I think that both Bill & Hillary are pretty honest.

Just remember, he smoked, but he didn't inhale.

Annnnnd......

He did NOT have sexual relations with that woman.

As the top representative of our country during his presidency, both of those things were major no-no's to be lying about. Given how this country has, for the most part, changed its views on pot, admitting that he inhaled wouldn't, in my opinion, been that big of a deal.

Denying he had an affair was in really poor taste. For the leader of the country to publicly do that, was shameful. Honesty goes a long way and when the trust of the people is violated, it takes a long time to earn that back. If anything, Hillary gets more credit in my book than Bill simply because she was the bigger person and chose to stay married to him, even after the public knowledge of the affair. She is by no means perfect and has her own set of scandals to deal with, but she (to our knowledge) has never violated the sanctity of her marriage.

Everyone has skeletons in their closet. The thing is not leaving the door open so they fall out because, depending on the skeleton, people are going to judge your behavior, moreso if you are a public figure. There's more of an image to uphold. Billions of people have heard of the Clintons. Billions of people have not heard of me. I'll still be judged for the skeletons that have fallen out of my closet, but that judgement doesn't fall nearly as hard on me as it does for someone who is a public figure.
