Again, that depends on where you live doesn't it? I have never been stopped and searched in my life, not in England, not in France (all papers should be carried at all times in France so, if it ever happened, I'm fucked.) When I go to work, I am discrete, when I work, I am discrete, and when I come home and help my girlfriend with the housework, I am discrete. If someone politely asks me to do something i.e. a work colleague, a police officer or my girlfriend, I will gladly help because I am like that. If I had been a right bastard outside, giving the cops a real mouthful, acting all hard like, then I wouldn't be here. Anyway, I know that French police officers and English police officers seldom hit people, they might restrain them with force, but that is about it. What you have in America, is wrong on so many levels. Isn't there anyone in power who can rewrite the law and police powers of arrest?

Well, we're discussing the riots in America -- you know, that place you've never been full of people not one of which you've met ... that place that arouses your indignance even as your curiosity remains dormant as ever.

As to your question, has the thought occurred to you that police can be and sometimes are criminals who break laws?

I asked you a question, please do not ignore it.

Bold is mine.

I will rephrase it then. What would you like the higher powers to do to create a fair and just legal system?

Yes, and I am English who happens to live in a country that was at war for hundreds of years. The French secretly hate the English and anyone anglo-saxon. I have faced the prejudice from my colleagues and turned it to my advantage. It is what you do when the going gets tough, you dig your heels in deeper.

Which is apples and oranges, since it has nothing to do with the legal system and much with police training. You know, such as not encouraging to shoot anything that moves and looks even slightly out of order.

Well, there were these guys who laid down some general principles about some of this in the Bill of Rights, but several decades of state and federal legislators pandering to the 'law and order' crowd, as well as federal and Supreme Court judges gutting many of the protections supposedly afforded by the Bill of Rights have helped lead to this situation.

Oh, and of course there is a long, proud American tradition of legal double standards when it comes to the treatment of black Americans, Hispanic Americans, etc.

And now we have a major-party presidential candidate calling for stop-and-frisk, which a federal judge has already ruled to be unconstitutional because it invariably led to racial profiling. It's a pity you aren't here. You could jump on the Trump bandwagon, too. Don't worry that you don't seem to know dick about the country. That's not a disqualifier in the Trump fanboy crowd.

But could a French cop instantly recognize you as "English" if were just walking down a street?

Minorities in the US have that problem, you see.

You must have missed a number of my posts. I have already stated that I have no political affiliation and as far as Trump is concerned, I couldn't care less. I do it just to wum. I have no leanings to the left or extreme left, nor the right or extreme right. I sit on the fence and call both sides since both the democrats/republicans, the labour party/conservatives are virtually the same. The days of the left helping the working man or woman has long since gone, and they help more of the middle classes.

Oh yes!!! The French hate the English as I said, but I am a proud wearer of anything that bears the cross of St George i.e. football jerseys. I may occasionally wear a french top, but apart from that, nope, no problems. I don't go out of my way to speak English to them as I am afraid that I might get shot, whilst they buy their Jaune.
