Having a real partner or not does not define how successful you are.
It's giving up on human interaction that makes them a failure, not whether they end up with a partner. That's my problem with these people.
That's a really rude thing to say about people who I'm sure are not really affecting you negatively.

As I said before, they tend to get lumped in with us normal otaku. And they reflect very poorly on our little corner of geekdom. And I'd rather they'd either simply shut up, or detach from the anime community completely.
Normal? Who's deciding that?

Chances are Quill, a virtual girlfriend can be "better" and more healthy -as- a girlfriend than you can....for someone, somewhere. Countless women spend their time daydreaming about the man of their dreams...allow the "basement dwellers" of the world the same courtesy.
No reason to be pissy just because they cut you out of the equation. Welcome to a man's world.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

For the mild or the major Hikikomori's or social recluse's , this is good solution to being able to interact in a more personally with woman. I'm a fan of this concept and it's one of the most interesting use's of VR I've seen. It does have a sad concept but, hey VR people can't hurt you unless their programed to be able to. We need to face facts here, with the internet has a species were able to use this wonderful technology to isolate and protect ourselves from emotional and physical harm. If you follow any anime or manga your probably familiar with Chobits or the pet girl of Sakurasou. In both of these anime's, in that realm the technology of physical digital assistance's. I know that are technology is no where close to the following,
Maid-Chan, is a fictional automated computer response program, which can handle all your communications for you while your busy doing something like watching T.V or your on your computer and do want to be disturbed If they were ever able to get the program to has functional as in the manga or the anime, those of who are more Hikikomori's or social recluse's, would not have to deal people nearly as much. The closet we have we is the automated text response. I use mine quite and bit, it comes in handy when dealing with people, the message i use is "I'm currently too preoccupied to read your text message or take your phone call. If a time slot opens up, I'll be able to receive your message and respond. Have a great day and thank you for texting or calling me."
If i had maid-Chan, the messages, emails, or phone calls could hypothetical reply in a nano second of the message or call being revived.

We have to take the good and bad with being an otaku, we have a lot of good and a lot bad in our community. It's the cos-players I've never understood at all. The loli's
and shotas makes far more sense then cos-players.

Real girls have lives and needs and personalities of their own.
I'm on the opposite end of on this if it makes you happy go on and do it.

I second that dyresand, makes all the sense in the world to me. The customer base who would buy this are not causing harm to anyone. An added benefit would be fan development , look at Second life for example. That program sparked so much user created content that it became a massive online store. If a user developed a thong-bikini skin for the character to wear, he or she could sell it for a fair price. This technology could also become a major player in the next evolution of pornography. But, it does have it's con's. What if a user developed a rape mod? Would that increase a person's odds of committing an actual real rape?

Well, I do believe Virtual Reality as we have seen it in SAO will become real eventually. Actually, the reason I study electrical engineering is exactly for this.
Imagine the possibilities. Pornography would become like having sex for real. Even with lolis, and shotas. Would it be moral? They are not real after all. Maybe, pedophiles could be satisfied with this technology and not rape real kids.
In any case, if this game makes you happy, then go for it. But if it makes you feel worse, dont use it.
