There is hope, we have the Asian countries making leaps and bounds in computer science. They don't have the restrictions that America does. American universities have the people but, as someone said AI is still very touchy subject. I believe that AI research should be unhindered, people shit on the Chinese and the Japanese a lot about the conversational research being done over there. Their work on gene therapy and other forms of technology are quite impressive.

I do not think it is sad or pathetic for people to find comfort or relationship in virtual companionship. Certainly, the anonymity found online allows for the creepiness factor to make itself more profound, but I have always been honest with who I am online whereas others have not.

How hard it is in this day and age to go to hook-up website/app and find a date. Come on do it, let that be your task. What can go wrong? I know you fear you'll embarrass yourself but if you're not unemployed, not living with your parents and not being too fat there's nothing to be embarrassed. Couldn't agree more CL. Won't fault anyone for doing it, but it sets unrealistic expectations of what real human relationships are like.
We are not made happy by what we acquire but by what we appreciate.
