Big Grin

Wow!

I've just reached 3.

I did get to 2 at one point but the boss came along, shook me and said something about snoring and I had to start all over again.

I feel quite refreshed. I wonder if this is a sign from the goddess?
Definately a sign. And I know its a sign from my particular gnome gods because: reasons [emoji38]

Edward John Wrote:Good try but here's the thing, universe creating pixies is not the same as God creating the universe.

Questions arising from the argument.

Are pixies all powerful like God?

Acting in concert, they're powerful enough to create a universe. That's as powerful as they need to be for this argument.

Edward John Wrote:Are pixies all knowing like God?

That has not been established to be a necessary attribute for creating a universe so it doesn't matter for this argument.

Edward John Wrote:Are pixies All Good like God?

Probably a mix, which would entirely explain the situation in which we find ourselves.

Edward John Wrote:Are pixies all perfect like God?

The only thing we know for sure about them is that they can and did create the universe.

Edward John Wrote:Are there any miracles related to pixies and if so are they demonic?

All miracles that actually happen are pixie-related.

Edward John Wrote:Do anyone worship pixies?

Whether they're worshipped is irrelevant to whether they could and did create the universe. They could have all been killed in the creation process except for the few left who muck around with miracles.

Edward John Wrote:Is there an so called holy revelation of the pixies and does those revelations correspond to absolute truth and morals?

Irrelevant to the question of whether they created the universe.

Edward John Wrote:Are those revelations historically accurate?
Does worshipping pixies make you Good or Bad morally?[/li]
[li]Are there any fulfilled prophecies concerning pixies, like in the Bible?

All irrelevant to the question of them creating the universe.

Edward John Wrote:Are pixies powerful enough like God to create the universe?

You kind of already asked that, and the answer is still yes.

Edward John Wrote:This argument is an example of an incomplete understanding of Christian theology, missing as it does a major philosophical and historical aspect of Christian thought: the idea that there are positive reasons suggesting the existence of God.

The argument isn't about Christian theology. It's about beings that created the universe.
I'm not anti-Christian. I'm anti-stupid.

Yes and no.

They do here.

Yes. I am sure Pixie worshippers here will tell you of their revelations.

Yes. As accurate at least as those in the Bible.

There are as many fulfilled prophecies concerning pixies as there are fulfilled prophecies in the Bible.

Yes.

There. That was easy. And I'm not even a Pixie worshipper.

(November 11, 2016 at 5:43 am)Edward John Wrote: Again, This argument is an example of an incomplete understanding of Christian theology, missing as it does a major philosophical and historical aspect of Christian thought: the idea that there are positive reasons suggesting the existence of God. Whether Christian or atheist, you can’t help but laugh at this. Of course, we laugh for different reasons. But who is thinking about this correctly? When it comes down to it, this image is merely a false analogy, a logical fallacy that tries to equate the argument of the existence of pixies with the argument for the existence of God. The Bible is epistemologically correct, explains why science is possible, gives a consistent basis for morality, logic, and truth, and is without contradictions both internally and with reality. The Bible explains the most fundamental questions that humans need to know, Where did I come from? (God created us - Genesis 1:1) (2) Why am I here? (we are here to have a relationship with God - Genesis 15:6) (3) Where am I going? (we have a destination after death - Genesis 25:8).  The bible contains hundreds of fulfilled prophecies which people who are not open to the evidence deny.

This argument is not related to Christianity or the Bible in any way.

It is meant to show why the cosmological does not prove what it claims to prove.

This version, as opposed to the version in the other thread with a similar title, follows the same (flawed) logic to reach the conclusion that Universe Creating Pixies exist.

As far as the Bible's accuracy, lack of contradictions, or the reliability of the so called "prophecies", please feel free to open a thread for those subjects. They both can be demonstrated to be incorrect.

Quote:At the end of the day this argument is simply a joke, to mock the existence of God and keep in mind the atheist does not even believe in the universe creating pixies even though he uses the argument against the existence of God. Christianity, the Bible, and the Christian God, however, are based on far more than being unfalsifiable. Positive evidence and a cumulative case have always been part of the Judeo-Christian tradition. Those who attempt to use the Pixies argument against the concept of God are not making an intelligent argument; they are being fallacious and deceptive.

Again, this argument is meant to demonstrate nothing more than the flaws in the argument.

In the same way the argument does not prove that Universe Creating Pixies exist, it also does not prove that a god exists.

If you are going to presuppose that a god exists, then there is no need to posit any of the so called 'philosophical arguments for the existence of a god'.

You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.

I think we might be able to harmonize the Norse creation myth with universe-creating pixies. Someone had to create the void with fire on one side, ice on the other, and a giant cow and a frozen giant in the middle.

Imagine if there was another city of Tyre which was the target of that prophecy, and no one knows it exists... just like God said!

That would mean that the city in that image is... wait for it... the spare Tyre!
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

I know Pixies exist, but I'm not sure they created the universe.

They did create some great music, though.
