Theists: would you view the truth?
RE: Theists: would you view the truth?
Quote:Believe it or not God does interact via the Holy Spirit

And if you've been a very good boy all year, Santa will give you a present.
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist.  This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair.  Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second.  That means there's a situation vacant.'

I would like a falsifiable hypothesis for how this supposed interaction occurs. I'll happily run the experiment and collate the figures. After they've finished hacking my guts up of course.

If we don't need any of that shit, I'll just say that the Holy Spirit doesn't do anything and doesn't exist. And since I said it last, it's truer.

I wonder why it even needs to interact if it had a plan? Or was fucking with everything part of the plan? Like, he'd set things up to be all wrong, so he could keep correcting them? Weird guy.

But "God" only interacts on its own terms and only if you genuinely want to seek it. If (when) your experiment fails to show this evidence you want, it's because "God" knows in your heart that you don't really want to mate with it for its own glory. Basically, it's your fault.

If I had never known God, and all I had was a unconfirmed faith and my whole system of learning was based on information being presented a certain way, then yes. I believe I would just follow whatever the hive mind thought was a worm hole and was what happened.

Let me ask you this, what if the worm hole bore out the bible's version of events? Would you then have faith/believe?

I have no idea what that answer was meant to be. Would you look in the wormhole or not, if you were you, as you are now? Just looking for a yes or no.

I'd believe whatever events I saw. It would be interesting to know the truth. It wouldn't make any difference to me though.

We see daily here believers not agreeing, and therefore not following, whatever parts of the Bible don't conform to whatever their whim of the moment is.

I'm not sure seeing Jesus in RL is going to change anything about their malleable, inconstant, and mercurial beliefs regardless of what they see Him doing.

Let's say Jesus really does walk on the water, would that inspire CL or Drich to drink poison or handle deadly serpents if they saw that part of the Bible brought to life too ??

Even knowing there are Hindus or Buddhists (I forget which) that can do the snake thing doesn't seem to have inspired much emulation in the US by the Christer community which I'd think would be eager for some big ticket PR stuff now.  Hell, out side of Appalachia, the snake handlers are looked at like they're kooks or something, not as the pious folks they clearly are.

Interesting how instead of answering the question you turn the question around.

I think you will find that most, if not all, atheists are willing to accept the truth, whatever that truth may be. I don't believe in something because it is convenient for me to avoid questioning it. I "believe in" something when I have observable, quantifiable evidence to examine that supports whatever claim is being made.

Now, please answer the question.
“Love is the only bow on Life’s dark cloud. It is the morning and the evening star. It shines upon the babe, and sheds its radiance on the quiet tomb. It is the mother of art, inspirer of poet, patriot and philosopher.

It is the air and light of every heart – builder of every home, kindler of every fire on every hearth. It was the first to dream of immortality. It fills the world with melody – for music is the voice of love.

Love is the magician, the enchanter, that changes worthless things to Joy, and makes royal kings and queens of common clay. It is the perfume of that wondrous flower, the heart, and without that sacred passion, that divine swoon, we are less than beasts; but with it, earth is heaven, and we are gods.” - Robert. G. Ingersoll

Would I believe.... what? that guys can heal with magic powers and come back from the dead? Sure. It doesn't get me to the tipping point of believing Jesus was 'God', why should it?

And by watching, how do we determine which god Jesus is fronting for?

Like where Matthew says Jesus' followers have to keep the law to enter the Kingdom, but Paul says absolutely not ?

Kinda tough working through those 2 versions with out risking apostasy.

which one are you saying a remarkably different in such a way as to contradict the others?

You know D, like Jesus being calm and in control on the way to His crucifixion as recorded in Luke versus Jesus being in doubt and despair as recorded in Mark.
