We do no favors to anyone by coddling these people's delusional beliefs.
Religions were invented to impress and dupe illiterate, superstitious stone-age peasants. So in this modern, enlightened age of information, what's your excuse? Or are you saying with all your advantages, you were still tricked as easily as those early humans?

Yeah, I saw this on Facebook. This is what I wrote in response:
Quote:Did... did Ham actually say "get your facts right"? Like - with a straight face?
At the age of five, Skagra decided emphatically that God did not exist. This revelation tends to make most people in the universe who have it react in one of two ways - with relief or with despair. Only Skagra responded to it by thinking, 'Wait a second. That means there's a situation vacant.'

Well, when you can define or redefine anything to mean whatever you want it to mean, of course he can say 'facts' as if they're the exact opposite of the actual definition. I mean, could you fool a lie detector by redefining some of the words in the questions you get asked?

Heh. The news outlet reported that Ham believes something that is marginally less ludicrous that what he actually believes, and Ham goes all snitty over it. He may as well have said, 'Stop telling people that I'm not quite as crazy as I really am!'
*sigh* Some lunatics are never satisfied.

I think it's awesome that he considers that a correction.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."

Ask him how seriously he thinks people would take him if he was only working a minimum wage job.

Ask me how seriously I take people knowing that he isn't.
