What a pea-brained ignorant response. Do you really think that stem cell research is nothing more than a modern day quixotic search for the fountain of youth?

And even if it was, what's your bitch? You don't want people to live longer? It's as if you were arguing that the germ theory of disease somehow thwarted our development as a species. Let's keep facts straight here. The germ theory of disease is less than 160 years old and has saved and extended more lives than your Christ could ever account for.

You'd think heaven-believers would want to die ASAP to get off this rotten shit hole and into paradise, while they're good with their Jew piñata or whatever. Living longer is just risking Satan Claus coming and tempting them into waking the fuck up evil.

Watch them cling to life as hard as any sceptic. Their instincts aren't so eager.

Of course, some people actually have fast-tracked themselves "to heaven". One of the most truly dangerous aspects of such a belief.

They believe their lives are in the hands of god, yet they still look both ways before crossing the street. So much for trusting god.

Who said anything about fountain of youth? I clearly stated the "purpose of stem cells would be to allow people to live longer, no?" . Would not the treatment of disease, replacement of organs ect. result in longer life?

The issue I took, muppet, was the statement of only wanting to live long enough to essentially see mankind progress by enabling people to live longer...

Wait...

So heaven believers cling to life as hard as any skeptic except when they don't...

Makes sense.

You're right Huggy. It doesn't make sense.
How or why an 11 year old girl puts on a belt full of explosives, walks to the market and kills herself and 80 others innocent bystanders?

You're right huggy, It doesn't make sense. Religion never did make sense (apart from the controlling business aspect of it).

They sell the emporer's invisible clothes and the suckers buy it without ever questioning whether they really are invisible or maybe just not there in the first place!

RE: Would you like to be immortal?
I used to think I wanted to be immortal. When I was a kid. Then I grew up. I realized what it meant. Living is strife, it's work, it's tough. But we're not talking about "life" here. We're talking some magical woo woo where I float around for eternity doing whatever I want. And what would that be? I wouldn't need anything, what would I do for an eternity besides watch the universe die and exist for an eternity in a dead, cold universe? At least now I'm working toward a goal.
Have you ever noticed all the drug commercials on TV lately?  Why is it the side effects never include penile enlargement or super powers?
Side effects may include super powers or enlarged penis which may become permanent with continued use.  Stop taking Killatol immediately and consult your doctor if you experience penis enlargement of more than 3 inches, laser vision, superhuman strength, invulnerability, the ability to explode heads with your mind or time travel.  Killatoll is not for everyone, especially those who already have convertibles or vehicles of ridiculous size to supplement penis size.

Harder actually, statistically believers seem to have a pathological fear of death, bordering on a phobia. They spend more per head on life extending treatments and actually exhibit a slightly longer than average life expectancy.
my working hypothesis is that the belief is in effect an attempt to deny the reality of their mortality, though I can't rule out the possibility that the fear is generated by the beliefs.
