Great.  They revere treason.

Actually, it was a foregone conclusion.  Like Japan in WWII the South never had a chance.

To be fair, how is the South wanting independence from the North different from the US having wanted independence from England?
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

White people never killed as many Indians as other Indians did. They had thousands of years to set the bar.

Because the south wanted independence specifically so they could continue the practice of slavery.

The colonies wanted independence from unfair taxation.

Apples and oranges.

And you can enjoy all of that without the racists symbol!  Which is wonderful. Smile
Thank you for having the courage to tell your story.   Heart

Not to mention that the colonies wanted Independence from a monarchy where they had no representation, vs the Confederate states-to-be who were part of a republic, and did.

Actually, it isn't different at all.  In both cases a specific socio-economic class wanted to replace the existing ruling class.

Now, name me one government which simply rolled over and allowed itself to be replaced by rebels.

I agree completely. You're transformation and honest answer is the most informed post I've seen about those who fly the confederate flag.

Canada.
We rebels repatriated our constitution from the UK through an agreement, not through war.

Now C'mon. The differences for wanting independence can't just be swept under the rug as though all reasons are meaningless. There was a worldwide movement against slavery that had been going on and most countries abolished slavery without having a civil war over it.
