If those posts are accurate, he chose not to vote rather than vote for Trump.

So I already knew the dirtbag was apprehended near the hospital where my girlfriend works. I just learned the cops found him literally right outside her break room, maybe 5 minutes after she clocked out. She saw the cops searching the area on her way off campus.

I find it more than a little unsettling.

This is a political goal; and many political parties worldwide are known to embrace it, and even consider it "a part of the agenda and part of the campaign" of that certain party.

This man is a rightist; judging from his crime combined with his own confession in front of the court.

Why isn't he considered a terrorist, like most brown Muslim killers are considered?

This is not even close to a hate crime. But somebody is benefiting from the biased "war on terror" that is only used to justify the organised invasion and demolish of the Middle East and suck its resources.And since Middle Eastern people are mainly brown and Muslim; terrorists can't be but brown and Muslim.

That is horrible. Recently, many events have been cancelled in Ca for fear of violence. A couple months back I followed a white-supremacist on twitter, and couldn't get through his posts without crying. The demeaning and brutal pictures were horrific! The dimwitted people that egged him on were getting so fired up with anger and disgust that each post got worse. They are having rallies and uniting like terrorist so either way they need to be stopped.

That is scary. I read an article saying Trump's twitter account gained over 5 million followers in 3 days, mostly bots. They were saying he's up something. Probably another distraction from his investigation with Russia. Get your girlfriend some mace to fight off the bastards

Which you're clearly taking out of context. You're repeating this line without addressing the several other posts I brought up, particularly the one two days later in which he advocated overthrow of the Trump administration and installation of Sanders/Stein, two favorites of liberals.

Now he's trying the "but he was violent before he supported Trump " This is not an excuse he clearly supports Trump and was emboldened by Trumps bigoted message and Trumps actions. And no as Shelly said being and asshole is not a mental illness.

Aside from the fact that he wasn't a Trump supporter, to show that someone was emboldened to be violent by the election, you would need someone without a past history of violence who now becomes violent. This guy has prior convictions for armed robbery and kidnapping.

Yes, SPLC is biased, but more importantly - you say that hate crimes are up, but link to a page about hate groups, not hate crimes. This indicates you don't have evidence that hate crimes are up.

Here's something that's actually about crimes. In New York as of Feb 12, hate crimes were indeed up compared to the prior year, 56 to 31, an increase of 25. You didn't hear a lot about it because when you look at the details, it doesn't fit the emboldened Trump supporter narrative. Crimes against Muslims were even, 2 this year and 2 last. There was only 1 crime against a Hispanic, compared to none last year. Most of the increase - 15 incidents - were against Jews. As Trump's daughter and son-in-law are observant Jews and worked in his campaign and administration, and Trump is pro-Israel, it seems unlikely that the increase resulted from emboldened Trump supporters who just couldn't find a Muslim to harass.

FWIW - I thought this was a simple hate crime before his outbursts in court at his arraignment, and before some of the later news reports. Now I have to agree with you that this was an act of terrorism and that it will not be called such, same as most of the incidents involving homegrown extremists. The last I recall that was called such was Timothy McVeigh and his accomplice who's name escapes me. There may be others that I don't recall but I think the overarching point stands - politically motivated violence involving white supremacists does not appear to be identified as terrorism in this country.

You mean the guys in southern Oregon? By the letter of the law, maybe not, but I don't disagree with the sentiment.

What's sick about that whole thing to me is that a couple of my old friends supported that bullshit one was actually considering joining them. It seems we've gone opposite directions politically over the years. It kind of feels like a microcosm of the divisive politics we have nationally.

This seems to me a culmination of decades of right wing dissent that ultimately resulted in the political situation we have today. I don't blame Trump for the political climate, I blame the political climate for Trump. He has done very little to bring attention to and discourage the violence though, and that is on him (not to mention that he seemed to be egging it on during the campaign).
