Cutting Water Bottles Out of Our Lives

RE: Cutting Water Bottles Out of Our Lives
Meh, look it up..I certainly don't expect anyone to trust my basic ass, lol. I've got a super chub for green initiatives.....but that doesn't mean I'm above giving the devil his due. Paper bags need to get their shit together. When they do, they'll be hands down better. They just aren't, as of yet. The form of plastic used in bags is super reusable...that's why they're all fuckin brown. They don't even dye out the color contamination (they could, but it would be more expensive on account of the bleaching).
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

I recycle mine (the clean dry ones) to a food pantry.

I (re)use quite a few myself.

BTW, if your roll them up, squeeze all the air out and rubber band them, there just isn't very much stuff in a bag. I do ask for paper at the store occasionally, and there is a bunch of material in just one bag. But I only ask when I need some. They're way more sturdy than the plastic ones. I do like smaller bags, easier to carry since my illness too. JFC, a big paper bag full is freaking heavy.

I don't burn trash on the farm anymore, have a trash hauling service now. I compost all the organics, so dumpster never reeks. Raccoons and bunnies love me now. I use trash compactor now too. Household makes one bag/week of compressed garbage. Farm stuff and cleaning out detritus from basement and upstairs I don't compress, and have been filling once/month small dumpster load. Way better than burning, and don't have to mow around damn barrel or dispose of the crud it builds up.

I recycle all electronics from here and some of the neighbors too.

Probably will cut vehicle count from 3 to 2 this year too, just not driving the one rig anymore, I REALLY like my pickup.

I still burn shit that I know the garbage company will burn, and I spread it out on my ground.

As far as electronics...well..I use to make them, so I actually understand how to "de-make" them...and the wife is always asking me why I don't do that instead...there's alot of money in troy ingots. More money, honestly, and with less space....than anything I do.

I use my 32oz Embrava Bottles for water (I use the Dasani Drops for flavor---that orange passionfruit flavor is divine) and my 20oz Zojirushi Thermal Bottle for mah coffee.

I don't like my water too cold. Room temp or just below is nice for me. So no Yetis or anything like that for my water.

I don’t have to look it up. I’ve done an entire research series on it. It doesn’t matter if it’s recyclable if they’re not being recycled.

We burned a farm building some years ago. I was surprised at how hot and thorough the combustion was.

Also, it was VIVIDLY hot. It shows how fake scenes are in movies when people are close to fire. The radiated heat is unendurable. Lava scenes from that earthquake movie and one of the Star Wars lesser entries is also ludicrous. You can't (not even with Jedi powers) be close to lava. Hell Anakin's clothes would have burned off long before they did anyhow.

Heat is HOT !!

That they’re not being recycled and are polluting our planet at disgusting levels? Yes, I know.

OFC they are.  But they are being recycled at levels higher than paper bags(for practical and profitable reasons).  I'm not sure we're disagreeing.  I'm not signing off on plastic, here...just noting that plastic grocery bags are made out of a singularly recyclable form of plastic, is all.....and that paper bags need to get their shit together, by comparison.

In my perfect world...people don't actually choose between paper and plastic..............?

I’m disagreeing with your assessment that they’re more green than paper. They’re categorically not. Deforestation isn’t cause by the paper bag industry, so that’s out. They don’t wind up as singukarly non-biodegradable waste. The vast majority of plastic bags aren’t recycled no matter how they’re made, so they serve no purpose in a greener society. Reusable canvas, etc. Is the way to be.
