Perfect for the time and place, them we will both move on and have only positive memories of one another. I think people idealize long term relationships/love too much and get themselves stuck with somebody they eventually do not feel the same way about.

This is another religious influence that isn't talked about much.  It's so pervasive and common that it is overlooked; even in the atheist community the religious influence on sexuality is still practiced. This is and will be a big hurtle to get past I think.

I think my generation has created a "hook up culture" with things like Tinder, which counters that. If you're interested in a long term thing it's not like it's disappearing, there are ALWAYS people looking for that. But we've created an alternative. I don't really like one night stands, but I would like to be intimate with several people over the course of my life, for the same reason i want to travel as much as I can over the course of my life. I don't think it's natural to be with one partner for 30, 40, 50 years. My opinion might change as I age and I'm not as hot hahaha.

Hopefully we are headed in the right direction. I may be wrong but it seems that generally the hookup 'movement' is just something to do until a permanent partner is found. Consideration for polyamory is not yet taken seriously.  Which is a shame imo.

No desire whatsoever for sex or a life partner or even girlfriends?? Yeah, I would consider this outside the norm. It could be a lot of things, though without knowing anything else about you, I can't really give any theories.

Oh, no, the horror! We all deviate from the norm in various ways. No big deal.

Having kids is probably where polyamory is going to have a pretty big roadblock.  It's definitely fine for people who don't want kids.  And for many people who don't want kids, it's sort of how things go.  But Joe running off for a date with Helen, while Diane sits at home with the crying baby that just fucked up her body is going to be a tough sell to Diane.

And if you're one of the ladyfolk, and you've got a bit of a shelf date on your desirability, and the future of polyamory is frequently going to be gross random old guys or cats, it's probably not as appealing to skip the permanent partner search.

It's not normal and it is strange, but lots of people live strange lifestyles.

What I would ask is how do you know you're hetrosexual?

Your example doesn't really say much about you because if someone said to me "Hey Paul a friend of mine is looking to start dating, would you like to join me and my partner on a dinner date with my friend?"  My reply would probably be "No thanks I'd rather kill myself."

I like dates but I don't like double dates, some people don't like dates at all and just want sex or whatever.  But you went straight to taking photos or some sort of solo activity.

I think three important questions would be, how does your attraction to women manifest itself and what ways, if any, do you express it?

What activity if any would you enjoy with a member of the opposite sex?

And a 3rd question which is kind of dependent on what was answered in the 2nd, but if the answer is that you wouldn't enjoy any activity with a member of the opposite sex and you'd always prefer a solo activity, why would you always prefer that?  Because of some discrepancy in thrills between the two activities, solo activities giving you more thrills?  Or because activities with females gives anxiety?

Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.

Impersonation is treason.

I knew I was heterosexual since I was 11 and I didn't have sex until I was 25 lol.

I disagree but don't want to hijack this thread. We can start a new one if you like.

It seems related enough to the topic on hand of whether or not it is or should be 'normal.'  I say we hijack away!

There's absolutely no basis for saying that poly relationships are any less good for kids than mono relationships because the distinction has absolutely nothing to do with raising kids. End.
