I personally would rather keep the taboo and...you know, not eat dead people.

Not only that, but as I understood it from various documentaries I've seen in the past, cannibalism also causes some sort of disease characterised by shaking... so it looks like it's not just a cultural taboo but also a biological one.

Talkin bout kuru?  Ish.  It's a cultural taboo informed by possible biological consequences (and a mound of other x)..but those are far from certain.  Similar risks are present in most of our livestock.

'Good evening sir. May I recommend the Kate Blanchett cutlets in mint sauce.' 'Nah, I'll have the usual'.
'Very well sir, Ann Hathaway derrière in Crème anglaise it is'.

Yeah I was about to say the same. Eating human meat can do some weird shit to your blood and be dangerous. You figure a biologist would know that. Let's keep cannibalism taboo please.
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly."

Sorry, I don't know what the disease is, just that I've seen it mentioned more than once in the past, both with regard to humans and other animals... I think... it was a long time ago. But it makes sense to me that animals might have an inbuilt safeguard like that against cannibalism.

Sorry, I didn't see this when I replied. It's probably that then.

Yeah it's kuru.  It's the only known consequence of cannibalism on record..it was limited to a small group of people who had..wait for it...kuru...and even though they stopped eating people with kuru a ways back..they keep getting kuru.  Leading researchers to posit that kuru may have an abnormally long incubation period..or there may be more ways to get kuru from a person with kuru (or from wherever the hell they're getting kuru now).

The bloodism thing was a joke.  There is no such effect of cannibalism, lol.

There's no known inbuilt safeguard to cannibalism, either, not in that sense anyway. More interestingly, why would you think it would make sense that there would be?

In all fairness, "lab-grown human meat" wouldn't be human meat.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.

I'm still trying to figure out why I should care what Richard Dawkins' culinary fetishes are .
