They have a "Show Labeling" feature that shows all the labels of the products they have. A lot of the products have both, but of all the products that have only one of the two, it's always Dextromethorphan. Case in point.
And, of course, Tylenol Cold and Flu Severe has both, with acetaminophen and phenylephrine (even though most of them are in smaller quantities than usual).
Fuck those websites! Go purchase a box of plain Mucinex and a bottle of plain Robitussin. Read the label and get back with me! I am a Nurse. Trust me!
Like these?
Unless you've managed to do some chemical analysis and figured plain Tussin and plain Mucinex to be of the same substance and the labels are lying, I'm going to believe the labels.
It appears there are some Tussin brands that use Guaifenisen exclusively, but Robitussin's official website with all their labels seem to all mention Dextromethorphan.

I was so confussed when chimp was saying Rubitussin was Guaifenesen lol.
But yeah, I think it's confusing because Rubitussin does have one that is Guaifenesen, but it isn't the one that is mainly used.

If an MD orders me to give "5 ml of Robitussin q 6 hours prn" I will not be coming to you for clarification of that order! I will be giving Guaifenesin, not DM! You will not be there to help me with the paper work entailed with a medication error!

Suck it up.
As someone who is still in college, and therefore only has retail jobs available, and has to do that and still have to go to class, I do not have time to give myself special treatment and take care of myself when I am sick.
I just gotta let it pass and hope it doesn't spread or get worse.

Whatever the case may be, moral of the story is this:
For supressing cough, take Tessalon.
To drain sinuses by thinning the mucus, take Guaifenesin (in whatever brand).
Dextromethorphan is useless. Do not take it.

Tessalon has side effects of hallucinations. If you are going to suffer those side effects, might as well have euphoria along with it. Codeine!

I've taken it plenty and never hallucinated. Might be fun though.

When I have a cold, I make sure there's a box of decongestant/cough suppressant/analgesic all-in-one tablets in the house, either a 12/12 "day/night" box or daytime only, because I tend to go through more of them.
I cut down dairy products or cut them out completely. At the same time, I increase my intake of hot liquids like herbal tea or chicken broth.
To cut down on redness from constant nose-blowing, I use skin cream or a lip balm (one with beeswax works really well) all the way up to the nostrils.
I try at all costs to keep the cold out of my lower respiratory tract, and use mainly expectorant-type cough syrups and/or Mucinex to clear stuff out as fast as possible.
If the cold tablets aren't clearing my sinuses, I break out the neti pot.
And if I have a sore throat, my go-to is to brew an insanely strong cup of orange pekoe tea, and drink it straight.

If i feel a cold coming i normally take extra doses of Vitamin C and E, as well as Zinc, and Echinacea. If i already have a bad cold then i take Dimetapp and get as much sleep as possible.
