That’s not ad hominem. Unless perhaps, I just start calling you a sinner, completely apart from the discussion and with no context in the conversation.

The difference is that I deserve basic human rights and equal protection under law, in the eyes of many christians...whereas a homosexual does not.

The illogical Christian answer: a gay man has just as much right to marry a woman as a straight man does, just as a gay woman has just as much right to marry a man as a straight woman does.

I note in the Mormon world, in less than 200 years, the concept of marriage has been updated, redefined and changed numerous times.

So she thinks it's silly when applied to single people or those who love toasters?     Is she toasterphobic?   If she says she doesn't hate toasters, don't believe her, and call her more nasty names.  Ask her if single people are second class citizens.

I admit, I made up the thing about toasters, so I’m guessing it’s probably a low percentage of the population that seeks that level of toaster commitment. But nothing surprises me anymore. And this has nothing to do with what you imagine as bigotry. The question is why do you find it idiotic? Do you find the arguments bad, or are you just a hateful bigot when it comes to toasty appliances. Doesn’t everyone deserve equal rights?
