The granting of a pardon is an imputation of guilt, and the acceptance a confession of it.

Old and New Testaments, btw, for our 'believers' who may not have noticed. Inconvenient children can be killed with death.

IDK, Vorles... the people who put out that list took some verses out of context.

It irks me because I don't think atheists need to start dabbling in intellectual dishonesty. Most atheists don't, but the people who threw that list together appear to be an exception. It pisses me off when religious apologists do it, but it pisses me off even more when atheists do it.

Besides, they missed a really good one... and this is totally in context:

The difference between Hell and Purgatory is that Jesus never spoke about purgatory or is it ever mentioned in the Bible, so CL must be some new prophet considering she is adding to Christian mythology.
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

As far as I'm aware, Emperor Palpatine pope Benedict said that purgatory (edit: as a physical place) wasn't canon anymore. I don't think I agree though, that would mean they are retconning the whole Expanded Universe that Dante worked so hard to create Sad

Fact: Every time you eat a bite of cake, someone gets horsewhipped.

Facter: Every time two people kiss, an orphanage collapses.

Factest: Every time a baby is born, an innocent animal is severely mocked for its physical appearance. Don't be a pleasure hog. Your every smile is a dagger. Happiness is murder.

Vote "yes" on Proposition 1321. Think of some kids. Some kids."

From a psychological and sociological viewpoint, it is rather easy to understand. Man created god, and thus god is the manifestation of fallible man. Nothing more.

After all, I believe a real god would be less representative of mankind and most recognizable as a deity.

Some people are born without the ability to feel remorse. How does one account for that? We would call them sociopathic monsters, but it isn't a choice.

Do the mentally ill get a pass? 500 years ago we did not understand mental illness at all. Those people would have assumed the person schizophrenic person was simply chosing that, or maybe infested with demons. How do we know that all people who qualify for hell aren't damaged or suffering from mental illness?

This is one thing that makes no sense to me. It's very unequal. Some people are literally tortured in life, others are relatively safe and healthy, yet in the end must all pass the same emotional test of accepting love?
