Yeah...I'm out of this conversation.

I don't see a rape culture that is shielding or condoning rapist.  And as I said, I don't think that we should blame the accuser without reason.  I think that this is getting better, and if anything heading to the opposite extreme, as you can see by the name calling and false accusations here.  Ford got an award for coming out.

The reality of what actually happens is different though. I urge anyone to try to imagine why a woman would be sexually assaulted and then not report it.

Of course. NPR's Hidden Brain podcast has a episode titled "Why Now?" That is both timely and insightful.  As I documented above there are some women who lie and scheme, sometimes for the most trivial of reasons. Rape and sexual assault often ruins the lives of the victims. So does spending years in jail as a result of a false accusation.  The slogan to believe survivors begs the question because not all the people we are expected to believe were actual victims.

The victims have a stronger right to airing their grievance than a political fraction in power have to install the preferred people in office to advance their controversial agenda.

The foundation of democracy is justice for all, not catch as catch can to political power.

You shouldn’t be really.  I think it’s this is based more on faulty starting assumptions.

That a woman could remember the face of her assailant after 40 years, as compared to 2nd or 3rd-hand accounts that were not written by eyewitnesses to the "event" who lived hundreds to a few thousand miles away from it??

Again, when the president of the united states does it and not one, but two SCOTUS judges are appointed for life even after the reports are made, you know it's the norm rather than an exception.

It's an US thing, I get it. Like rich settlements to that avoid the preported rapist to be off the hook. Justice here does not allow that. Even if the rapist settled to pay a gazilion dollars to the victym, he would still be prosecuted by the state. Same with domestic violence, murder and the like.

This... 'culture' of paying off crimes is not accepted here. A rapist might confess his crime, that could be a mitigating factor for the sentence, but he will get one, no matter if the victym accepts a money compensation.

Is there an amount of money that pays for that crime? or any violent crime, for that matter?

Do detailed calendars count as evidence? This is rhetorical I know they don't.

Ok... what’s your evidence for these claims?

Quote: Well, I'm against such things. I also think that what the President has said, is often being exaggerated and distorted for politcal reasons.

You would... but then you are as big a prick as he is.

I have little doubt that Dr. Ford remembered who, in fact, assaulted her, likely, having seen his face in the news and on the Internet over the past years and decades.  Now, if she had said that she had been abducted by space aliens, taken to their home-world to be made their queen, only to escape back to Earth via a wormhole that closed on the heels of her captures fleeing after her, then, yes, I would have some grave doubts.

No wonder people don't come forward. 7 convictions out of 1000. Statute of limitations. No shield law in civil cases. Nuff Said!
