Like I said, a god could come down here right now and folks like yourself would call it a liar and insist that their magic books were still true.

if he did not align himself with what was written then he would not be the god ofthe bible.. the bible tells us there are other being who take the roles of angels and deity when they are not. So without some standard how would you know this being who came down is indeed God? is magic tricks all you need? a little gold perhaps to line your bathroom? How would you know God if he came down and spoke to you? how could you discern God from satan?

Yeah...no shit....., lol...but that god personally discrediting the fairy tales stuffed into it's mouth by the authors of old and new magic book isn't even going to be a speedbump for the believers of old and new magic book.

Truth is, yall are book worshippers, not god worshippers. You have an idol, a totem. You prefer this to any god. No god would actually have to come down to discredit the fairy tales you prefer..they've already been discredited..and yet here you are. My comments, couched as a hypothetical, represent a current reality that you confirm with your every post. I fully expect you to continue doing what you've been doing for as long as I've known you on these boards.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

again, there is no one God without the book. without the book the god of 9-11-01 islamic terrorist becomes, legit the god of smith becomes legit, david koresh becomes legit. where your assessment fails about us being solely book worshipers is with in the book are directions to God. find God according to those directions and the book is no longer needed if the god that comes to you acts in accordance with what the book says.

Again here's the thing here is what separates biblical Christianity from everything else. God promises to show up if you seek him out on his terms... then he does show up. no priests no prophet no special enchantments or relics needed to summon god. just look how he says look and your eyes will open just a little bit wider.

Yes, yes..... I know. Fuck a god, your magic book is true or there is no god!

You don't have to convince me that you believe this, lol.

................?

I'm an atheist, Drich, lol.  The question of what gods I would prefer is a non-starter. Hell, it's not like I'd "embrace" any of these gods even if they existed - I'm pretty sure I've shared my mind with you on this before?

You're just confirming my comments with each of these posts, though. It's not like it would matter what gods you would prefer either.  If david koresh actually were a god, then david koresh would be a god...but clearly you'd still be screaming about your magic book in that event. Similarly, that you prefer the magic book to some other existent god doesn't alter the fact that the magic book has been thoroughly discredited. Finally, if there were no god (spoiler alert, there isn't) you'd still prefer your magic book.

As a side note, pursuant to the above....can we get confirmation from you that the jewish god, the various christian gods, and the islamic god are not..in fact, the same god?

*Waco. I was, yeah. A few years later I got a job breaching buildings in much the same manner, lol. Those Davidians really could have used some training.

I agree with OP. Once you start asking the hard questions many believers get angry.

As someone who once believed, I can assure you that you will never understand their logic, because there is none. In order to believe in God and in a religion, you need to ignore many contradictions, which most of the time means " I do not know the answer, but I know there is one because God exists, so its okay".

I only discuss about religion with a few believers who are close to me and I know wont get angry. Otherwise, I never do.

"In order to believe in God"  - There never has been an atheist, or ever will be. In Romans 1, Apostle Paul stated there are no atheists --- 18  “who suppress the truth by their wickedness. 19  For what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them".   There are those who say there is no God or show me the evidence (creation itself is one of the pieces of evidence). Did anyone think that the 'old nature' which is at enmity with God, would go away quietly?  They resist God's moral authority by suppressing the truth. It's a mistake, to try to convince anyone in the existence of God since they already know that.

Like the poet said: truth is like dust, just can’t get rid of that stuff; it just keeps hanging around.
Atheist Credo: A universe by chance that also just happened to admit the observer by chance.
