While I have a strong bias against the state engaging in violence against it's own people, I have no such bias against people violently pushing back on the state. Or, you know...how we became a state to begin with.
Does that clear anything up? I don't care whether or not we're angels...and I'd honestly rather stand against jack booted thugs with straight up killers. We'd get more done. This business of politely asking a violent state to stop killing you doesn't seem to work. You might have noticed that the man in the video tried that.
I said something along this line earlier. As long as the protesters are attacking organs of the state - burning police cars, fire bombing police stations, throwing rocks at cops - I’m completely comfortable with it. These people are NOT engaging in criminal behaviour, regardless of what the law says.

@Rhizo
He knows what my position is. I write most of that off to sunk cost.
Rather than accept the demise of america, that the country I love and whose ideals I would and have killed for no longer exists and..maybe, never did......
I choose to see oppressive state and federal agents as enemies of the state. The people who make excuses for them and carry water for the status quo as propagandists and irregulars aiding and abetting a hostile occupying force. That I am duty bound and oath sworn to oppose any and all manifestations of their attempt to rob us of our own country's premise and promise by the very blood that runs through my veins.
Really pisses off white supremacists, too....my use of their semantics probably crosses wires in their heads.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

So the solution is anarchy and a bad haircut.
Thanks for that enlightening bit of info.

I grow my hair out and cut it off every year for donation..because it's fucking beautiful, and my aunts a cancer survivor. It's down past my shoulders and needs a clip now.
Swing and a miss. Accept your shame.
Anarchy, though? Good god no. I think that they should organize for maximum effect. That's why these protests and riots are going to fail. They disperse when they get gassed rather than waiting to get gassed then advancing under covering fire. Bonus points if they manage to liberate some military grade swag from the cops, who...honestly, really ought to take stock as to whose side they're on...and, maybe...drop their guns and run. The most ideal scenario would be that the cops who open fire on civilians come under fire by the cops standing next to them. You know..actually serving and protecting, rather than thin blue lining.
A patriot can dream. What do you dream about Biker?

I would push for non-violent solutions that work within the system although the system probably won't heal itself so maybe violence is the only solution...
The problem with that is it only perpetuates a cycle of violence to enact change... oh violence is ok, well then I will engage in violence to get what I want.
Wash, rinse, repeat. NO, you don't get to support the citizens rising up against the state AND decry the citizens working WITHIN (Citizens On Patrol) the state when they take it too far and murder someone. Violence solves nothing everyone sucks here.

The idea that violence solves nothing is more a liberal shibboleth than a statement of truth - but I certainly won't argue with anyone who has a non violent solution and prefer them to violent solutions simply because of the kind of effort involved in violence. It's all of the same stuff that a peaceful solution would include. The logistics and the rhetoric and the hearts and minds...with added running and choking and hiding and shitting yourself and hunger and death.
Thing is, if the other guys would rather kill you than listen to you, the choice is not yours to make and any tut-tutting from the peace loving crowd simply perpetuates the one sided cycle of violence already ongoing.
Ideally, you destroy the infrastructure, not the people. Things can be replaced. Booting the keystone cops out of town doesn't mean that you won't immediately need new cops...it's just an opportunity to get a better class of policing. Maybe we could get a police force that doesn't even murder people! Imagine that.
We're not exactly discussing some randos simple desires here.

I don't mean to tut tut. I see the effectiveness of violence and right now the kid in me really wants to clean up my mini-14 and go get something done although I'm pretty sure that would result in my death because I'm an Engineering Tech not a warrior. If you need me to help develop a metrology or author a spec on how to operate test equipment, I'm your guy!
The adult in me realizes that we need to reform the system in a huge way but other than chopping heads off the wealthy I don't really know what would shake things up. I'm a cog in a corporation too so my opinion is going to be slanted towards maintaining the current status quo because it has worked out pretty nicely for me. I did sign up for represent.us but I feel that their effort, while more organized than the occupy movement, is still largely lacking teeth. I honestly don't know how to proceed...

That's the tradeoff. Violence absolutely will cost lives. OTOH, lives are already being lost.
I'd say that these past few centuries we've had ample time to change the situation, and no shortage of people offering peaceful solutions. So long as people will put up with this shit in trade for their life, it won't change, and it would be ludicrous to expect it to change. That is exactly the deal being offered by the hostile occupying force.
Let us stay in power, and we'll let most of you live.
