Also, goddammit, Trump, stop trying to give potential presidential assassins an easier time!

NYPD Commisioner Dermont Shea is just really upset about how the cops are being oppressed.
It's almost like they understand the problem, so long as it's on the other foot.

I heard some remarks made by an American politico (her name escapes me) a day or so ago to the effect that if police are prevented from using excessive force, most of them will quit.
Erm...isn’t that what you’d WANT to happen?

Similarly, responding to funding cuts, LAPD Chief Michel Moore threatens the city with violence if they don't receive their desired payments.
I thought that the police were supposed to shut protection rackets down, not run them.

Yeah, I’ve read about that waterhead. Apparently, he believes that effects come before causes. He said that Floyd’s blood is on the looter’s hands just as much as on the cops who killed him.

It's particularly galling to me, since I served at a time where we...as soldiers serving a us mission with NATO, were forced to purchase our own body armor out of pocket - in addition to a number of other items deemed critical to our success. In many cases, items which we would be officially punished for, for not posessing.
Their lack of faith in their mission disturbs me.

Unlike the Lt. Colonel I link to earlier who told the crowd, ‘We are here to protect your constitution rights.’ And they cheered.

We cheer those soldiers who protect our rights, and rightfully oppose those soldiers who are tasked with removing them from us. Getting a scroll or a badge doesn't change who a person is, but it is demonstrably clear that some who have them deserve them, and others...not at all.

Is it fair to assume that these street protests will go on until the elections which are now about 150 days away?
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
