Speaking of opinions and how theyre informed - Best isn't really resigning over a lack of respect for officers due to budget cuts - that's completely disingenuous and an exercise in misinformation. She's being quit fired at a transition - and it's probably in her own best interests to be out of the way when the freight train of scrutiny comes barreling through her mismanaged police dept.

When you cut pay in ANY job field - the BEST employees leave for greener pastures.
Do YOU think you would stay if your boss told you that you were going to work more and get paid less?
Or would you update your resume and start looking for a new job?
And you expect the cops are different?

SPD'S Best are providing the level of service we see now..and seeing as how a patrolman in seattle can make 400k a year..what will we have to pay them to get a better quality of officer?
The "give me more money or bad things will happen to you" argument isn't going to land well with the country broke and out of work, especially coming from a group of people who get paid six figures to kill black dudes and gas protestors. I suspect that they'll get into more shit, ultimately, for the money issue than the systemic racism.
Forbes was on this one -
Quote:Progressive critics from the Autonomous Zone and conservative fiscal hawks both decry a misallocation of resources by Seattle city government.
And both camps can point to hard data to make their case.

Show me an accurate source of what the average cop salary is.
Doing a general search of my job title, CNA, I should be making 67k a year. What a fucking joke. The internet obviously lies.

Not all of them, in some places it can be a pretty shit job - that's not the case in Seattle, though. t's not surprising to find that people would choose to find another job rather than get paid less, and they'll do that even if they're shit at their job, which Seattle PD is, and even if they're currently overpaid..which...Seattle PD is. If you do a deep dive, you'll find that SPD officers are capable of getting paid overtime for work they don't actually do, and aren't even present for.
Like I said at the outset, fucking amazing union. These aren't the hard up officers doing a good job and getting paid peanuts that OLBS comments rely on.

Fewer cops on the street means fewer first responders on the street. Cops carry Narcan for no good reason I can see.
