Damned Christians
RE: Damned Christians
Poor baby. He would still be alive today if his parents were not Christians.

(Note: this is from a Romanian site and they haven't done completely thorough job of translating the article on the English language)

Quote:Baby dies in Romania after being immersed in baptism

A six-week-old baby boy has died after his face was submerged in water several times during baptism.

The archdeacon said he spoke to the priest who baptized the newborn and he said the baby had cried during and after immersion, indicating that his vital signs were good.

However, several minutes later the baby, who was born prematurely, went floppy and he called the ambulance, he said.

The family contradicted that report and told Antena 3 that the baby stopped breathing when he was taking out of the font, and they called the emergency services.

”We wanted to christen him, and I can tell you he was crying, but the priest plunged him into water three times, and he inhaled water. The priest took him out and wiped him down. I found out from doctors that he’d inhaled 110 milliliters of water. He was bleeding from his nose and we put his head down to get out the water but he didn’t recover; his heart was beating but it was very weak,” the father, who was not named, told Monitorul de Suceava.

Emergency officials resuscitated the infant and he was taken to  the St John the New Suceava County Hospital  where he was put on a ventilator, hospital spokesman Dan Teodorovici said.

He suffered a cardiac arrest, and died early Monday morning.

Police have launched a manslaughter investigation, but haven’t charged anyone.

In 2010, another Orthodox priest was accused of accidentally drowning a six-week-old boy as he baptized him in in northeast Romania. [Just accused?!]

teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"

There's a new CBSN documentary, The Right’s Fight to Make America a Christian Nation: “The debate over what role religion should play in public life has never been more contentious, with some promoting a vision of Christian primacy that critics say tramples on the rights of everyone else.”

My bro in law couldn't get married in his church due to cohabitation. Jut flat out wouldn't let him marry the woman he'd decided to marry, lol.

They lost five well tithing congregants that day and a man who would later become a pastor. Two years later, a child. One of those small humans that churches are finding it harder and harder to procure and keep glued to the pews. The kind that pays out for 60 or 70 years.

Dumdums. You don't just lose the customer you shit on, everyone knows that.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!

RE: Damned Christians
Funny how churches do things like that. My hometown church, the one I was forced to attend for years, refused to baptize my older daughter. Being born out of wedlock and all that...sins of the fathers...blah, blah, blah. We found out later that a large contribution to the church pays your way out of that rule.

Then they wouldn't let me marry in the church. Okay, I can take a hint. Peace out Basilica of St. Francis Xavier and take your Catholicism with you.

Yet all these decades later they still send me begging letters for money for the Catholic high school I was forced to attend. Yeah, good luck with that.

See, and shit like this is how I know that, no matter how small and limited, these people believe in gods. Someone or something would -have- to come and rescue them from their long list of inarguably poor financial decisions. They drive their patrons away, assuming that, in the end.... god will float a note to cover their mortgage.

He never does, because god doesn't throw good money after bad, but that doesn't stop any of them from believing that he might turn into an idiot, and do that thing, for their sake. The church I was mentioning no longer exists, btw. Turns out that my n laws were keeping their lights on. I already knew that just by looking at our bank statements.....but these guys, apparently, taken by suprise.

They refused the only life preserver that they could see thinking...one can only imagine, that some other might suddenly appear. Didn't happen.
