I don't think news headlines are a good basis to make an argument. 99% of stuff we read about religious leaders doing bad stuff is complete hoax or exaggerations. And rumors like some religious leader commiting rape often have political motives to discredit him completely.

Christian beliefs are a set of superstitions, I'm talking about religious beliefs.  You may have noticed, for example, that different christian cults have their own ticks?  That's an expression of differences in religious beliefs between subcults.  Different sets of ideations about the sacred produce different christianities, just as they produce different moral conclusions. Atheists, for their part, can be incredibly religious.  One of the most persistent and successful religions in the world is chock full of them. You might want to ask the atheists here if they had any choice in the matter. If their faith was a thing they could or even did come and go from as they pleased. That's not how any of this works, and I would expect that even you should know that.

At any rate, are we going to hear the kinds of arguments you found compelling for the position that life is not sacred, the sacredness of life being debatable to you?
