The Russian Orthodox Church is back with a vengeance
On Friday, October 29, a Moscow court sentenced blogger Ruslan Bobiev and his girlfriend, model Anastasia Chistova, to 10 months in prison for “offending religious sentiment.” The couple was convicted over a photo they posed for, pantomiming oral sex against the backdrop of St. Basil’s Cathedral. According to Holod Media, these are the first ever prison terms handed down in Russia for “offending religious sentiment.” The Russian Orthodox Church has been a formidable ally to Vladimir Putin’s development of his authoritarian Russian kleptocracy. Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, has gone so far as to call the Putin era “a miracle of God.” Indeed, the ties between the Kremlin and the Moscow Patriarchate are as old as Russia itself. Throughout its history, the Russian Orthodox Church was subservient to the state and an unshakable supporter of autocracy. Starting in the 16th century, the church provided Moscow’s rulers with a political theology of Manifest Destiny, asserting that Moscow had become the Second Jerusalem and the Third Rome (after Rome and Constantinople). https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/po...d-blogger/
teachings of the Bible are so muddled and self-contradictory that it was possible for Christians to happily burn heretics alive for five long centuries. It was even possible for the most venerated patriarchs of the Church, like St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, to conclude that heretics should be tortured (Augustine) or killed outright (Aquinas). Martin Luther and John Calvin advocated the wholesale murder of heretics, apostates, Jews, and witches. - Sam Harris, "Letter To A Christian Nation"
So a Baptist preacher, Ben Naim, claims from his pulpit that all politicians are "whores," adding, "In the case of Kamala Harris, she literally is a whore!"

Perhaps, as VP of the US, she can have representation in her defamation lawsuit, without having to take too much time out of her official duties, while this dork threads his way through the legal system on his way to three hots and a cot.
If you get to thinking you’re a person of some influence, try ordering somebody else’s dog around.
And this misogyny is why Kamala Harris will never be president (and the fact that she was given the border to deal with).

Sadly, I feel you might be right. From here it seems unlikely that president Biden will run for a second term. If he does he'll probably get in. Then you'll have something like Nancy Reagan quietly in charge from the background. If Vice President Harris runs in her own right, I think it's unlikely she will win because of the systemic misogyny and racism in the US. I honestly thought the US would elect a woman before it elected a black person. Of course as an outsider I was unaware of how deeply people despised Hilary Clinton.*** *** After she declined to divorce her douche of a husband I realised she really wanted to be president. The word which comes to mind when I think or either Bill or Hilary Clinton is 'louche'
Isn't it funny that no matter where we stand, we're all worried that the border is being run by consulting astrologers
I jest, sort of.
I am the Infantry. I am my country’s strength in war, her deterrent in peace. I am the heart of the fight… wherever, whenever. I carry America’s faith and honor against her enemies. I am the Queen of Battle. I am what my country expects me to be, the best trained Soldier in the world. In the race for victory, I am swift, determined, and courageous, armed with a fierce will to win. Never will I fail my country’s trust. Always I fight on…through the foe, to the objective, to triumph overall. If necessary, I will fight to my death. By my steadfast courage, I have won more than 200 years of freedom. I yield not to weakness, to hunger, to cowardice, to fatigue, to superior odds, For I am mentally tough, physically strong, and morally straight. I forsake not, my country, my mission, my comrades, my sacred duty. I am relentless. I am always there, now and forever. I AM THE INFANTRY! FOLLOW ME!
What do you know, another religious organization turns out to be just a brainwashing, criminal, sex trade, money scam.

It seems people in the US are running from churches and religion in droves. And while people are becoming less religious it's not necessarily that they are becoming atheists, but they just can't stand the preachers, and they also don't want to follow Christianity's restrictions on everyday life - like not being allowed to smoke weed, have sex, wear makeup and piercing, they don't want to give them money, etc.

Bags and bags' of money found stashed in bathroom wall at Joel Osteen's megachurch
A plumber named Justin, who works for a large contractor, told the station he got a call about a loose toilet at the church on Nov. 10. "Justin said he started working on the toilet and had to remove the tile and insulation," the station reports. "Once he removed the insulation, he discovered about 3,000 envelopes full of checks. Some had cash in it. Justin said he called the church’s maintenance supervisor and had to stay at the church for almost seven hours." "Justin said the church or HPD never thanked him or reached out to him about $25,000 reward money," the station reported, referring to the reward that was offered following the 2014 theft. The discovery came several years after someone stole $600,000 in cash and checks from a safe at Osteen's Lakewood Church. https://www.rawstory.com/joel-osteen-church-money/
