Yes - this is the NRA. Read a few of these reports - in each case the media outlet that made the report is cited.
It is kind of hard to call it biased reporting with so many different sources.

The simplest answer is - when a gun saves a life - it isn't considered news that needs reporting.
It is amazing to me that the people on the Flat Earth Society forum tend to be rather anti-gun. I'd expect Flat-Earthers to be anti-government and pro-gun, but I was wrong about that: https://www.theflatearthsociety.org/foru...ic=89883.0
Thanks for the link...are you aware that it's against the rules to copy/paste things here that you have posted elsewhere?

The simplest answer is - when a gun saves a life - it isn't considered news that needs reporting.
But there’s no way to tell if those incidents resulted in saving lives (although it seems unarguable that they were self defense).
For example, the story about the woman who shot an intruder multiple times - the story describes this as ‘an attempted burglary’. Unless we know for certain that the intruder was there to kill someone, it isn’t possible to say that the woman’s use of a gun saved anyone’s life.
To be clear, I’m not arguing that there are cases where private citizens with guns DO save lives. That can’t be sensibly refuted. I’m arguing that the estimates used by FA are - at best - suspect. He seems to want to make up numbers until he finds one that fits his narrative.

The antis like to make up numbers too.
They like to include suicide, self defense and justified police shootings into their death totals.

Any death where the cause of death was a gun is a gun death. Words, how do they work?
There are some anti gun arguments that probably make poor inferences based on numbers that they don't have to make up, though.

No argument - not all gun deaths are gun crimes. But that wasn’t really the point, which is that it’s almost impossible to determine how many how many citizen shootings actually ‘save lives’. I’m sure it happens, I’m just not sure we can know how often.

By it's nature, the number would be a wash. No matter how you look at it, it's someone getting shot.

Not necessarily. A man enters a home intending to kill all six people living there. Instead, one of the people gets to a gun and manages to shoot and kill the intruder. One person dead vs. (potentially) six people dead. Not a wash.
An unlikely scenario to be sure, but not an impossible one. But that’s my point - unless we know the motive of ANY person shot by a civilian, it’s damned difficult to know how many lives are saved by guns. But we can be fairly confident that it’s not the 300 000 FA imagines it to be.

I think a much more likely is 300k a year stop an incident. Burglars and rapists detered for instance.
When I had CCW classes here at my place I heard more than a few stories of guns preventing bad shit from happening - and in each case a shot was not fired. Just the presence of the gun was deterrent enough. Saved lives? In one case - it was quite likely.
But again - the media doesn' t print horrible things averted....

I was surprised a little while ago while listening to the news in my car by a rather lengthy ad about gun safety. This is TX after all. It was rather well done and not preachy at all. Just going over what should be the simple things, like keeping your guns locked up. It was a change of pace for this area.
