Ralph Rowe was a Canadian air force pilot and an Anglican priest. He flew to remote areas to "preach" where authorities say he sexually assaulted up to 500 boys. Served only 5 years in prison for 60 cases. His victims were Indigenous.

According to the original statement of claim filed in 2017, Rowe would fly his plane into mostly remote Indigenous communities under the guise of providing “religious services and character-building activities.”

“However, throughout this time, Rowe’s conduct was motivated by a sinister desire to gratify his improper sexual appetite for young boys,” the statement of claim said.

He would groom his victims over time, enabling his abuse of hundreds of mostly aboriginal victims, some as young as five years old.

Maine Catholic Diocese faces 6 more childhood sexual abuse claims

The newest complaints allege the Roman Catholic Diocese of Portland knew about the abuse, which occurred between 1954 and 1988.

The men and four other anonymous plaintiffs filed complaints Monday against the Roman Catholic Bishop of Portland alleging they were sexually abused as children by church employees. They say church leaders knew about the abuse and not only failed to respond but went to great lengths to conceal it – priests were often reassigned to different parishes following reports they were abusing young parishioners, the complaints state, none of which was disclosed to parishioners.

Rossignol said Audibert abused him in the late 1960s when he was an altar boy. He said Audibert told him that the abuse was “a normal thing” and that it was a “normal part of growing up.”

Rossignol was removed from active ministry twice: once in 1994 following allegations that he had abused a child at a Caribou church in the 1970s (he returned to the ministry the following year after attending a rehabilitation program); and again in 2002, after confessing to his congregation that he had a sexual relationship with a minor years earlier in Lewiston. That victim was in prison for abusing a 10-year-old, who in turn violated a 3-year-old.

He promised “before God” there were no other victims. The Vatican defrocked him in 2006, according to Rossingol’s complaint.

“It just needs to change,” Rossignol said Monday. “I will not step foot in a Catholic church, ever again in my life. Ever.”

East Timor is very Catholic and thus the clergy exploits that. One priest opened an orphanage and raped every girl that passed through there for thirty years and other employees helped him with that. And yet many people still worship him and the president wants him out of prison although he admitted that he raped all those kids.
Another example is the archbishop who raped many boys so the Vatican exiled him so that he would not be tried. And yet many people want him back claiming that those were just lies by Bill Gates and George Soros, and they even believe that it is not a big deal if a child gets raped.

In 2002, just a few weeks after Placa was suspended by his bishop because of Tollner’s abuse report, Giuliani not only publicly proclaimed Placa’s innocence, he also put Placa on the payroll of his company, Giuliani Partners, supposedly as a “senior vice-president.”

And one year later, a report surfaced in New York that concluded that Placa:

tried to molest an altar boy (and) was then given an assignment that “provided a large and continuous source of boys — a school,” and

was instrumental in developing the church’s policy to handle allegations of sexual abuse of children by other priests, using “deception and intimidation” to essentially keep the scandals quiet.

He was also on the board of a Massachusetts-based church-sponsored “treatment center” to which predator priests were sent. It eventually closed after repeated scandals.

How close are Giuliani and Placa?

“Few people are closer to Giuliani than Placa,” Rolling Stone magazine has reported. Placa “is part of the former New York mayor’s innermost circle of friends and advisers” and “played a key role in many of Giuliani’s major life events, most recently when he officiated at the 2017 wedding of Giuliani’s son, Andrew, who works at the Trump White House.”

He reportedly “found a loophole” that allowed Giuliani to annul his first marriage, then performed the service when Giuliani married his next wife, baptized their children, “officiated at the funeral of Giuliani’s mother, and was photographed on a trip to Rome with Giuliani and his third wife.”

But the bottom line is that Giuliani’s dear friend is accused of molesting three boys and has been described as “the imperious architect of policies that protected pedophiles” (in the words of the New York Times. Still, “America’s Mayor” loyally stands by him, just like Giuliani loyally stands by Trump.

Archdiocese of San Francisco Files for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy

Today, the Archdiocese of San Francisco filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy reorganization. This callous and heedless decision by Archbishop Cordileone is a continued effort to stonewall survivors of clergy sexual abuse from receiving justice under the lawsuits filed under the California Child Victims Act.

“Cordileone will use every tactic and tool at his disposal to continue to run from the truth. He refuses to identify offenders in his diocese, he attempts legal maneuvers to eliminate the California Child Victims Act, and now he is attempting a last-ditch effort to hide the truth behind bankruptcy,” said Anderson. “What Cordileone continues to underestimate is the strength and the relentlessness of the survivors who were abused under the archdiocese’s watch. It is the survivors who have courageously come forward that will expose the truth.”

The Archdiocese of San Francisco is the third diocese to file for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy in California following the close of the Child Victims Act on December 31, 2022.

Reforms needed after ‘horrendous’ Catholic church approach in paedophile priest cases, lawyers say

Lawyers for two Indigenous abuse survivors have called for reforms to address the “horrendous” Catholic church strategy of seeking to permanently block cases where alleged paedophile priests have died.

On Wednesday, the church was successful in permanently blocking a claim made by two Indigenous survivors relating to alleged abuse committed by David Joseph Perrett, an Armidale assistant priest and convicted child abuser, whose crimes the church has known about since 1995.

Perrett died in 2020, awaiting trial for alleged abuse against 40 children, including the two Indigenous men, who alleged they were molested by Perrett in 1976 during a camping trip from their Aboriginal mission in Armidale.

Former pupils at three Jesuit schools in Ireland who were abused by the late Fr Joseph Marmion have described the devastating impact on them and their families of “the extreme physical punishment, sexual grooming, wrongful accusation, and expulsion or threat of expulsion” they suffered at his hands.

In testimony to a restorative justice process, the men spoke of ongoing “feelings of panic, disgust, anger and upset” as well as “self criticism and self-loathing that they didn’t challenge him at the time”.

Head of Catholic Church in Ireland facing resignation call from abuse survivor over invite to top US Cardinal

Several survivors of child sex abuse at the hands of Catholic clergy have spoken out against the Archbishop Eamon Martin, primate of All Ireland, after he invited a top American Cardinal Timothy Dolan - criticised for his handling of child sex abuse allegations - to celebrate a special anniversary Mass in Armagh at the weekend.

Also present at the special Mass on Sunday was Archbishop Martin's predecessor as primate of all-Ireland, Cardinal Sean Brady, who has faced significant criticism over his handling of child sex abuse allegations.

In 2010, Cardinal Brady denied accusations of a "cover up" when it became known he attended meetings in the 1970s where two abused teenagers signed vows of silence over complaints against the notorious sex offender Fr Brendan Smyth, who was jailed in 1990s for child abuse.

Cardinal Dolan, meanwhile, was reported by the New York Times around a decade ago to have requested permission to move almost $57million into a cemetery trust fund in order to protect Church assets amid demands from victims of sex abuse for compensation.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Mr Faloon described the invite to Cardinal Dolan as a "two-fingered salute to survivors of sex abuse and child rape in the Catholic Church".

He continued: "I was raped by Finnegan around once a week, every week, for seven years. I was raped at least 350 times. It affects us every minute of our lives, every minute of every day.

"What I am calling for is that he [Archbishop Martin] has to resign. I'm not asking him to resign, I'm telling him he has to resign.

"Think of it this way, McAreavey resigned in 2018 one day after it was put out what he did not do [with regards to Fr Finnegan].
