Vice President Harris holds a 7-point edge over former President Trump nationally in a new poll, marking the latest gain for the Democratic presidential candidate as the general election approaches.

A survey from Fairleigh Dickinson University, released last Friday, found Harris leading Trump 50 to 43 percent nationally, while 7 percent said they will vote for someone else. Trump and Harris fare equally well with voters from their party, each having 95 percent support from their partisans, pollsters found.

With independents who do not lean towards either party, Harris still leads Trump, but by a smaller margin, 38 to 33 percent, the poll found. Harris holds a large lead among self-identified liberals, 87 to 10 percent, along with progressives, 93 to 5 percent, and moderates, 62 to 30 percent.

The former president, meanwhile, leads among conservatives 76 to 19 percent, and MAGA [Make American Great Again] voters, 95 to 4 percent.

Pollsters noted race or gender played a large role in pushing Harris’s lead. When voters are asked to think about race or gender, Harris’s lead grows significantly, while support for her and Trump are virtually tied when they are not made to think about it, they said.

Trump saw his strongest support among men “who hold traditionally masculine identities,” while women and other men who reject these identities favor Harris, according to pollsters.

Republican pollster Frank Luntz signaled that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s backing of former President Trump could help him win battleground states in 2024.

Luntz said that while Kennedy’s poll numbers have dropped since Vice President Harris ascended to the top of the Democratic Party presidential ticket, his remaining supporters could provide enough backing to tip some swing-state results in Trump’s favor.

“It’s probably worth about 1 percent for Trump and that 1 percent could be everything if it’s in the swing states,” Luntz said during his Friday appearance on NewsNation’s “On Balance” with Leland Vittert.

“In the end, the reason why Kennedy was drawing 10, 12, even as high as 14 percent is because he was taking votes away from Joe Biden,” he continued. “Joe Biden’s gone. Kamala Harris has replaced him, and [Kennedy’s] vote collapsed down to about 4 or 5 percent and what’s left is a Trump vote.”

I hate how they're still talking about swing states - big data has made it so that political campaigns microtarget counties. That's how the state swings. We don't like to think of it this way, but a few thousand people in a handful of counties decide our elections. If you don't live in those places...your vote doesn't matter. It's background noise. A useful prop to continue the farce.

Trump is working on the "right" spin to get out of the debate with Ms. Harris on September 10th. I don't know how many ways he and his minions can prove they are afraid of women. And heaven forbid, women in a position of power, and not white.

Rock and a hard place.  No one likes their policies, not even magats, but the donalds cult of personality is based on donald being donald unfiltered. When we normies see "character" we think "good character". That's not what the magats see or judge on. They mean the donald could better position himself if he had the discipline to cultivate loyalist character. A list of things other people might call bad but the afflicted consider good.
