RE: 2024 US Presidential Election
They may be counting Third Parties among the Independents.

I have to wonder how I would be classified - I consider myself an independent in that I have no formal party affiliation, but I haven't voted for any Republication since 2008 and don't see myself voting for another any time soon. The Democratic party doesn't fit my views close enough, and I really don't want to affiliate with any party.

As long as I remain in Colorado, we have only two real parties, and our fucked up voting system doesn't change, I will remain independent. As an independent in Colorado, I can choose which primary I want to vote in. If both parties are running primaries, I can vote for a candidate I truly like (Bernie in 2016 would be a great example) or I can vote against a candidate I truly despise, like Trump in any election cycle.

I will never vote a party line out of party loyalty. My country comes before my party, and I wish more elected officials felt this way. But I will vote a straight Dem ticket as long as trump lackeys are filling my ballot on the Republican side.

I had never voted straight ticket before Trump got involved.  I always leaned Dem but did try to be as informed as possible about the upper seats at least.

Sounds like you're making decisions the same way that people who don't identify as Independents do -- looking at the two options and choosing the lesser of two evils.

As if a party voter wouldn't cross party lines just because of how they identify. It's all just virtue signaling.

Who said they "won't" cross party lines? I certainly didn't.

Here's how that voting thing works, in theory, I get to vote for or against whoever I want.

Let's see how long it takes the right to turn this into a conspiracy.

RFKs campaign missed the deadline to get him off the ballot in a handful of swing states. Womp womp. My favorite, though, is michigan. The Natural Law Party. I had just gotten comfortable writing satire when these assholes accidentally corner the market.
