Radio host Charlamagne tha God argued Thursday that Dr. Anthony Fauci, repeatedly invoking the Fifth Amendment during his Senate hearing this week after being pardoned, was “suspicious” if he did nothing wrong.
“Now, listen, I’m stupid, OK? I just want y’all to know that. I will say I never understood why Dr. Fauci needed a pardon if there was no crime committed or nothing was done wrong,” Charlamagne said during “The Breakfast Club” show.
“And when you think of every conspiracy theorist that accused him of everything from creating or covering up the virus, the profiting from mandates and vaccines, it does look suspicious that he won’t answer questions,” he added.
“And the language. How can somebody trap you if you’re not doing nothing wrong? Like, you can’t trap me if I’m not doing anything wrong. What am I gonna say?”
His co-hosts argued that former President Joe Biden pardoned Fauci, along with members of his family and the Jan. 6 committee, out of concern that they would be prosecuted by incoming President Trump.

Right Wingers Claim Rap Music Is Dead Thanks to … Elon’s USAID Cuts
The racist conspiracy has been popularized by figures including Joe Rogan and Benny Johnson. It’s total nonsense.
The conspiracy asserts that somehow, with its roughly $40 billion annual pre-Musk budget, USAID had been propping up the American rap industry, to the detriment of other, more “American” genres. They claim that by eliminating USAID — the now defunct international humanitarian aid agency — DOGE opened the doors for “American” country artists to once again top the charts — as if rap music is not one of the most quintessentially American cultural creations in the nation’s history.
Their evidence? Well, the timing of the DOGE cuts coincides with a resurgence of country music’s popularity on streaming charts. Maybe this seems plausible if you squint real hard, ignore actual streaming data, and also common sense. There’s also a very blatant element of racism undergirding the whole thing.
In May, far-right social media poster and would-be musician Steve Frassen put out a call to his followers on social media. “ATTENTION PROUD WHITES:Everyone who hated rap in the 1990’s and 2000’s is VINDICATED,” he wrote. “Rap isn’t music.It’s government PISS that was funded by USAID to dumb down Middle America. Take a victory lap, proud Whites who didn’t fall for it!”
Within weeks, the claim made it onto the podcast of the perpetually credulous Joe Rogan, who spread it to his millions of listeners. “There’s some people that believe that gangsta rap when it came about in the 1980s [… was popularized by] some faction, the government, some faction, some intelligence agencies wanting to create more crime,” Rogan said — referencing older, also debunked conspiracies.
“People are pointing out that right now is like one of the rare times where no rap music is on the charts, and they’re saying, ‘Well, how does this coincide with USAID [being defunded]?’ Was USAID like actively promoting rap music?” he went on. “Was that one of the reasons why rap music was so possible? Popular? Is that real? That can’t be real.”
Rogan’s engagement with the conspiracy, which up until that point had been contained to the more extreme cesspools of social media, brought it to the front door of the right-wing creator economy.
Podcaster Tim Pool told his listeners in late July that “Maybe it was the USAID.”
“Rap music just vanished from the Billboard Top 40 for the first time in 35 years. Strange, a couple of months — so this would have been about four months after the shuttering of USAID — rap disappears from the Billboard Hot 100. Interesting,” he added.
While Langley has held the top spot for an impressive 40 weeks, the genre has not “disappeared” from the charts for that same amount of time, as some right wingers are claiming. On July 31, Drake, Lil Baby and Young Miami all held spots in the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100. Mac Miller, Ty Dolla $ign, Don Toliver, BabyChiefDoit, and a slew of other artists made the list.
Click slop creator Benny Johnson claimed on Thursday that “libtards” had no response to Langley and were “in shambles” over Langley’s success. To be clear, there is no discernable backlash to Langley or her music, and she has not spoken publicly about her politics.
“We were suppressed and our culture was manipulated and psy-opped by our own tax dollars and intel agencies, and Elon Musk shut it all down with USAID,” Johnson said. “Libs have no answer to it. So produce another piece of mumble rap garbage, please, CIA, and tell us that we’re going to like it.”

Morocco blames misinformation for Ceuta migrant rush; Israel conspiracy theories spread
More than 50,000 people crossed into Ceuta by land and sea in an unprecedented surge that began on Thursday at one of the European Union’s only two land borders with Africa, prompting alarm across the bloc. More than 48,000 returned to Morocco within 48 hours and more did so over the weekend, Spanish authorities said.
The ministry blamed the rush of migrants on social media misinformation, human trafficking networks and misinterpretation of a Spanish ruling banning immediate returns of migrants intercepted at sea. That statement was similar to the Spanish Foreign Ministry’s comments on the matter.
Following the crisis in Ceuta last week, posts accusing Israel and Jewish people of orchestrating the event spread quickly on social media, reaching an estimated 103 million people on X within 72 hours, according to an analysis by the Combat Antisemitism Movement’s Antisemitism Research Center (ARC).
Posters falsely claimed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu directed migrants into Spain due to its policies regarding Israel. In one, viewed 5.3 million times, an AI-generated image showed a boat sporting a giant Netanyahu figurehead, with a line of migrants filing out from his open mouth onto a Spanish beach, ARC said.
Another account claimed Israel had “admitted” engineering the migration through Mossad.
“This is not a story about a few bad actors,” said CAM CEO Sacha Roytman Dratwa. “It is a story about a platform whose design rewards the fastest and most inflammatory explanation available, and on X that explanation is increasingly a Jewish conspiracy.”
The conspiracy theory surrounding Spain’s migrant crisis was further promoted by spokesperson of the Republican Left of Catalonia party Gabriel Rufián, who wrote on X, “The Moroccan dictatorship, in the service of the US and Israel, is once again blackmailing Spain and Europe this summer by turning its own people into disposable cannon fodder.”
Javier Bardem amplifies conspiracy theory blaming Israel for Spain border crisis
Bardem reposted an Instagram post suggesting that Israel may have helped engineer the crisis, in which roughly 50,000 young Moroccan men stormed into Spain’s North African enclave of Ceuta. “Spain has been Europe’s loudest voice against Israeli and US war crimes in Palestine, Lebanon and Iran,” the post said.
“We don’t know who engineered this crisis, but we know who benefits from a weakened, destabilised Spain: Israel, and the Western far right eager to turn migration into a weapon against Muslims,” it added.
Bardem circulated the allegation to his millions of Instagram followers alongside another post portraying the crisis as part of an alliance between Israel, the United States and Morocco.
The posts cited a 2019 message by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s son Yair, who sarcastically urged Arabs and Muslims seeking to “free occupied Arab Islamic lands” to begin with Ceuta and Melilla. The years-old exchange concerned what Netanyahu presented as Spain’s double standards over disputed territory.

My problem with this headline is that you only admit things that are personally true for you. If Fauci's behavior is suspicious, you can assert it, but not admit it, because it's a public proposition.

What gets me about this is that in their enthusiasm to prove™ conspiracy theories about the tyranny of masks they have to memory hole the one provable and consequential lie he told at the time. If what they believe is true then it simply doesn't matter that he misled the american public out of misguided economic concerns...which is definitely not his ao....rather than scientific or medical ones...which was his responsibility. The real sin is not letting the nuts move warehouses of horse paste with don the con as a front man.

World’s oldest light bulb turns 125 and the conspiracy theory about it gets physics wrong
A light bulb installed in a California fire station in 1901 just turned 125. Wellwishers gathered at Livermore's Fire Station #6 this summer to sing "Happy Birthday" to it. The Centennial Light, manufactured by Ohio's Shelby Electric Company, has been burning for over one million hours. It holds the Guinness World Record for the longest-running light bulb. It has also been the subject of a decades-old conspiracy theory that physicists say misses the point entirely.
The conspiracy claim is straightforward. Manufacturers have always known how to make long-lasting bulbs but deliberately shortened their lifespans for profit. The alleged villain is the Phoebus Cartel, a very real organization formed by companies including Philips and General Electric in 1925.
The cartel fixed prices and standardized bulb lifespans at 1,000 hours. Critics have pointed to the Centennial Light ever since as evidence that longer-lasting bulbs are being suppressed. According to Popular Science, which published an analysis on August 3, the reality is far less dramatic.
The core problem with incandescent bulbs is that brightness and longevity are fundamentally opposed. The filament glows because electrical current heats it. Hotter means brighter. But the higher the temperature, the faster the filament's atoms evaporate. Evaporation thins the filament over time until it breaks.
Manufacturers optimized around that tradeoff. Brighter bulbs ran hotter and died faster. Dimmer bulbs lasted longer but produced barely usable light. The Phoebus Cartel's 1,000-hour standard was not simply a scheme to sell more replacements. It also ensured that buyers got bulbs bright enough to be worth buying, with predictable lifespans that kept electricity costs reasonable.
Here is what the conspiracy theory leaves out. The Centennial Bulb is labeled as a 60-watt bulb. In practice, it draws about four watts. And it is even dimmer than a standard four-watt bulb, because of how inefficiently it converts electricity to light.
Electronics blogger Maurycy analyzed the bulb and concluded the most likely explanation is mundane. Someone at Shelby Electric accidentally made a bulb with unusually high filament resistance and sold it as a night light. A high-resistance filament draws very little current. That means very little heat. Very little heat means very little evaporation. Very little evaporation means the filament survives for 125 years.
The Centennial Bulb does not prove that durable bulbs are possible at full brightness. It proves that a bulb running at roughly seven percent of its rated power can survive almost indefinitely. That is not a suppressed product. That is a dim lamp in a fire station.
The planned obsolescence theory also struggles with a basic timeline problem. If utility companies and bulb makers conspired to keep people buying short-lived bulbs, they eventually abandoned that strategy entirely. The industry moved from incandescent bulbs to fluorescent lighting and then to LEDs. Modern LEDs can last 25,000 to 50,000 hours. They are also far cheaper to run and dramatically less expensive than incandescent bulbs were.
The Phoebus Cartel was real. Its price-fixing was real. But the Centennial Light does not actually prove what conspiracy theorists say it proves. It proves that a filament running far below its rated temperature is very reluctant to wear out. And that a birthday party for a light bulb is, on balance, a wholesome use of everyone's time.
