An interesting view of female privilege.

What are my preconceptions, prejudices?
I have two children two daughters. Somewhere on my path to adult status I picked up the slavery is wrong message. I am a feminist. 1) is trivial, men seem to get away with this stuff anyway. 2) ye well that is to be expected. 3) he could have used a condom 4) is this person a poe? 5) This person is surely a poe. I believe that people's rights are often infringed, whether they are male, female, gay, straight, black, white, etc. I support equal rights for everyone. Quote:1) is trivial, men seem to get away with this stuff anyway. They really don't. The female hosts of CBS's "The Talk" once laughed at a story about a woman who cut off her husbands penis. There wasn't much outrage; indeed, most of the (female) audience laughed along with them. Can you imagine if the reverse had been true? If a talk show dominated by men had laughed at the story of a man who cut off his wife's labia? Quote:2) ye well that is to be expected. Why is it to be expected? Are you ignorant to the number of women who attack their male partners each year? Quote:3) he could have used a condomThat doesn't deal with why the mother gets priority over the children in a divorce. Condom use shouldn't be the responsibility of one person, it should be the responsibility of both, since it takes both people to have sex, and both people to get conception. Quote:4) is this person a poe?No. Quote:5) This person is surely a poe.Clearly you are new to the internet...or at least new to reading about the various feminists who write blogs and censor anyone who disagrees with them. Fundamentalisms, no matter for what, are always wrong. The problem with feminists is that most of them get too much into the fight and turn into feminazis if they sense their power is growing, much like machists.
Equality is the answer. reverendjeremiah Wrote:How is what she posted considere egalitarianism to you? How is it not? She recognizes that male privilege is a problem, but she's also recognizing the privileges granted to her because she's a female. Her bio is a good description of an egalitarian: "Rachel Goodchild is a writer and presenter specialising in education and behaviour. She considers herself both a feminist and a masculist, and is particularly passionate about seeing both boys and girls have the opportunity to learn about the world in the ways that suit their differing styles." You were commenting on HER being an egalitarian, and not the circumstances she was posting about. Cool, I agree...so far I like her.
Yeah. Sorry for the confusion

Nowhere in the article itself does it mention equality being the answer. At first glance, it seems like she is just bragging, and doesn't have a problem with it.
"Sisters, you know only the north; I have traveled in the south lands. There are churches there, believe me, that cut their children too, as the people of Bolvangar did--not in the same way, but just as horribly. They cut their sexual organs, yes, both boys and girls; they cut them with knives so that they shan't feel. That is what the Church does, and every church is the same: control, destroy, obliterate every good feeling. So if a war comes, and the Church is on one side of it, we must be on the other, no matter what strange allies we find ourselves bound to."
