I agree with KichigaiNeko. It does not have to be limited to believers judging non-believers - the vice-versa is also valid.

It's hard not to feel judged when they are constantly telling you that their omnipotent overlord is judging you. Like Rhythm said, judgement by proxy.
Christian Wrote:It does not have to be limited to believers judging non-believers - the vice-versa is also valid. True, but the question was about Christians and atheists specifically. Humans do definitely appear to be judgemental by nature however.

Judgement by proxy (God in this case) is something we can't evade. Therefore, the statement is baseless. It's the question of humans judging humans. Christian Wrote:You have freewill do as you please, just know there will be a payday for all Since you have yet to demonstrate that a god even exists an its will is exactly as you say it is, the statement is not baseless. The fact that you have chosen to beleive in a deity that condemns those that don't think like you is very telling of your judgement. After all, the bible is so ambiguous I'm sure it would be easy to interpret in a way that one need not believe in a judgemental god.

Because the realities of the situation places all of us in the same boat we are all sinners to an equal degree, in that we are condemned to eternal separation from God because of our sin. The ONLY thing the differentiates "us and them" is we have elected to accept the offer of atonement offered by Christ. This however does not mean we are better people nor does it mean we sin to a lessor degree that buys our way into heaven. It simply means "we" have accepted our sin and asked that it be forgiven. The fact that we do that, emphasizes a Fact that mosts Atheists have killed God (in their minds) to forget. All of this combined leads to simple guilt, even when absolutely nothing has been said to condemn those who do not seek forgiveness. I suspect they are afraid that whatever I say might shake their belief more than it will mine. Or perhaps they know by reserving judgment you stand a better chance of seeking God. Nothing can be said to anyone who does not want to know God. "Conviction" (As the bible identifies it) or what you all have deemed judgment is supposed to be reserved for those who seek a reason to accept Christ. Not for those who deny Him. Yes,that is the question, isn't it, what with there being no gods laying about to do any judging. If you're a "sinner" that's your own dirty business. I am not.
